Goodwood SpeedWeek Launches Friday

Chichester, West Sussex, ENGLAND – After announcing the new virtual event less than three months ago, Goodwood Road & Racing is preparing to get SpeedWeek underway.
Photo: Goodwood Road & RacingMost importantly, Goodwood wants to be sure that fans have all of the details on how to have the best online experience during the Oct. 16-18 action.

With Goodwood celebrating the 70th anniversary of F1, the 50th anniversary of Porsche’s first Le Mans victory, and TWR Jaguars at Le Mans, you know there will be lots of historic cars on track. Among the stars is a selection of legendary Lotuses: an ex-Stirling Moss 18, ex-Graham Hill 49B, and two ex-Emerson Fittipaldi 72s that have claimed wins at the Monaco, German, Spanish, South African, Italian, British, Belgian, Brazilian, Austrian and Argentinian Grands Prix.

Photo: Matt SillsIn celebration of the 50th anniversary of Porsche’s first win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a number of the marque’s Le Mans legends will be on track at Goodwood. The Le Mans-winning 917K at La Sarthe in 1970 will accompany a selection of its winning successors, including the back-to-back 1984 and 1985-winning 956B, the WSC-95, 911 GT1-98 and the latest Porsche victor, the 919 Hybrid.

Presenting cars from almost every era of motorsport with the chance to blast up the famous Goodwood Hill in an attempt to claim supremacy over the world's largest automotive garden party.

This year the Festival could not take place and moved to 2021, so instead the Timed Shootout moved to SpeedWeek and the Goodwood Motor Circuit. That meant that cars much faster than would normally be seen on the circuit were allowed to take part in an incredible sprint. This is the full finale to that awesome competition, and it includes #F1 cars, Le Mans legends, the stars of Gran Turismo, GT3 cars, modern #BTCC cars and more

407K subscribersAt Goodwood SpeedWeek presented by Mastercard we invented a brand new form of motorsport... sort of. Driftkhana is a mixture between a sprint, a bit like an autosolo, with a judged drift competition and proximity sensors.

All added together to bring a proper test of skill, speed and sliding for both drifters and rally drivers. Over the course, around the Goodwood Motor Circuit and it's outfield roads, the cars will be timed from start to finish, with time reductions for each proximity sensor that is hit and a multiplier onto that deduction from the commentary team judging their run out of 20.

With an incredible lineup including Steve 'Baggsy' Biagioni, with his mighty LS-powered Nissan GT-R and triple Formula Drift champions James Deane, with his wonderful E46 M3, and Vaughn Gittin Jr. and the mighty Ford Mustang Mach-E 1400 as well as
