Default Photoshoot/Track Day

The first few photos are from a random photoshoot with some local cars and the last set are a few from the track last night. I've owned my DSLR for about a month now and still trying to get used to it. I wanted to post these to see what you pros have to say about them and what I need to improve on. Thank you!

Not bad! What are you shooting on? Also, I assume you're using the stock flash from the camera?

Tip for the rolling shots, if you want to get a nice background blur, and wheel spin, turn the camera to shutter priority, and drop the shutter speed to 1/60th and adjust as needed. (Meaning make it quicker 1/80th or more if you want less blur, or slower 1/30th if you want more blur)

^Thanks for the advice! I'm using a Nikon D3000 and yes it's the stock flash and lense. I'm trying to get the hang of all the different settings on the camera.

Tripod son, tripod for night shots. Also, read up...Read as much as you can. Learn about exposure, composition, and aperature. Learn about everything and then go out and try. The worst you can do is take a shitty picture!

^Haha, thanks! I've read up on a lot but I don't really understand it all. I shoot in the MASP modes but can't seem to get the exposure right when I do. Yes I know I need a tripod, I try to avoid shooting at night, ha.

I don't know of specific books but if you can find some that take time to explain aperature and exposure and composition, you'll be better off in the long run.

^I know that aperature is the depth of the shot but I don't know how to get the composition right when I'm manually changing the aperature and shutter speed. I will do more research.
