i need two drifters for a grand opening drift demo, either local to gainesville, or willing to travel to gainesville... drivers car's need to be somewhat orderly (not 6 different colors). will be opening, halftime, and closing a circle track race, banking skills are a requirement. Practice times will be this Sat, open for all, and the following Fri night, 2-3 hours will be allotted for the demo drivers, then the demo on Sat.

$25 pit fee the day/night of the demo (just to cover insurance).

2x onsite tire machines.

ample pit area.


REMEMBER, if you want to do this, you must be available Friday for a few hours practice, AND all day Saturday.

as a side note, this will also help promote drifting at Bronson, and help open another venue for drifting in Florida, with regular events, competitions with payouts, and $10 practice days.

they want drivers to PAY, to give a SHOW to the crowd they they are MAKING MONEY off of? They cant atleast take 5 peoples ticket cost and put into the "insurace fee" for you? I bet more than that goes in the damn 50-50 raffle.

maybe i'll let them repaint my car, get me a new body kit and get me a supercharger system, and then ill only charge them $50 to do it all for me. am i doing it right?

if someone REALLY wants to drive this, go ahead, im sure itll be fun- I did several oval demos for race nights. But you guys need to tell them to eat it on the $25 fee bs. Shit, we would get in free and get track food too. Stop selling yourself short, if they want you, they should be willing to "let" you drive and give you a burger/fries to say thanks for coming.

get something for yourself guys, stop acting like we arent the most crowd pleasing thing at 98% of the events we goto, make them resepect that element.

they get more crowd excitement/enjoyment/want to return and you get a hamburger. thats still getting away with murder considering the gas/tire cost for you.

maybe the best way to get message across is to ask them if they want a new job where they get to pay their boss for the opportunity to clean the floors.

 

Yeah paying to do a demo is kinda dumb. Also, do you have to be there for practice on Fri? You can't just show up the day of the demo and get after it?

 

well then fuck it, no one do it, then another regular possible venue for drifting in florida is negated....

it's a freshly opened track, they just want some PR, it's not like a NASCAR track where you'll be in front of thousands of people and televised, you're not expected to go pro, just put on a little show and call it a day....

i'm doing to to massage the balls of the track owners so they'll continue having $10 test and tune/drift days, and regular events, and comps with payouts once or twice a month...

one small "demo" in front of 400 rural folk to open another track in FL on a regular basis isn't much to ask for in my book... driving 3 hours and paying $40 entry fees does get old after a while...

obviously if they wanted me to do this EVERY circle track day, i'll have my hand out of tell em to get the fuck out... but to boost drift days, it's a drop in my bucket.

 

listen dammit. stop taking it so personal. THEY ARE RIPPING YOU OFF. your getting nothing in return for your 'showing of skill' or the hardwork building the car. Racers are there to win a purse/points/championship. Your there purely for crowd entertainment and excitement. You are losing money left and right in travel, tires, and vehicle abuse...

if you dont think you are worth a hamburger and free entry then you need to open your eyes man. do you think they charge the guy jumping a stunt car on fire through RV trailers to come in? Or the guy running a jet car simply to melt a '88 tercel.

No one is dissing the venue itself either. I get that they want PR, but they want you to pay them, to advertise for them. It would be like ABC paying people to put their commercials on their channel.

They want to charge for a drift event = MAKES SENSE. Charge you to drive for their crowd = WTF. There is nothing special about the track to make me want to PAY to drive it to help boost their 'already scheduled' race. And in no way is a hamburger going to make them broke- no one is asking them to shell out $200 a driver.

you can pay if you like, but its "demos" like this that let them think its ok to treat us like junk scraps and not as a trained driver. we as drivers need to realize our TALENT is as good as CASH sometimes and just use it as such. Tell them you'll pay $25 for insurance and you charge $100 to display your talents, or you'll be nice this time and call it even for just some grub. Heh.

Its not a BAD IDEA, its a GREAT IDEA to do a demo, but they need to be serious on charging you to do it for them.

 

i'm not taking it personal mayn! it's just really easy for me because i live less than a mile away from the track, and i get free tires and shit... in your case, i understand completely, truck, trailer, tires, maintaince, car prep, travel... me it's right around the block.

as for the fee, i agree, and like i said, that this time, I'm gonna pay, do the thing, but if they want it on a regular basis, then they're going to have to waive fees, and add compensation for time/effort/wear and tear.


just figured it'd be fun to drift Saturday, come back Friday for 2-3 hours of private practice (holy seat time batman), with only 1-3 cars. then do a cool show thing in front of a small crowd, but fuck, 3 drift days in less than a week? and private practice?

if i know/knew the person who wanted to do this, i have space at my house (4bd/2bth) to stay Friday night, if i know ya, mi casa, su casa.

 

Demos are like the worst possible thing you can do to your car too.

 

true. make sure you let your car breathe and take cool down laps. gl, it might end up being well worth the 25$ if someone in the crowd wants to maybe sponsor ya. hope it turns out well.

 

yeah, that would be neat.... but i all want to do is to have these people say "this is cool, lets keep drifting on our track", if i can accomplish that, i'm solid.

I hope im wrong, but its typical mindset. CFRC is pretty much the only place that the track owner doesnt seem to try to squeeze out the money from us.
