Default Roll cage.

I have a question for anyone with a cage, who in here is actually using a DOM style cage, and how many people are using a regular mild steel ERW cage?

DOM here. ERW is not going to pass tech if you go to a ProAm, but if you never plan to... its whatever i guess?

Make sure you get the correct padding for the rollcage (high density) or else its dangerous to have the cage, especially if you are daily driving it.

If anything buy one of those Enjuku weld in cages and re-notch those shit ass door bars. Like box said to, don't use those padded noodles for padding. They're not fire retardant and are not hard enough to sustain impact.

Yeah I was thinking about just doing it, although I'm not experienced enough yet to worry about passing tech for any major event, I am going to install a cage just for personal safety. And was not sure if I might as well install a DOM right off the bat but, I guess I'll just suck it up and spend the extra money the first time. Thanks everyone.

you could probably get away with the cheaper stuff if you were just looking to reinforce the chassis so you don't die when you hit the wall drifting and maybe stiffen up the suspension and all of that. BUT, you would just need to accept the risk and understand that it isn't as strong as DOM. I have seen it happen, way too many times. People either throw in a pre made cage, or they fab one up real quick, then they think they are invincible, giving them a false sense of safety, which makes them over confident, then Boom! they are slammed into the wall and on the way to the ER.
there is a right way, and wrong way, and something in between. If you don't need to pass tech inspections, then the something in between will work, you just gotta make sure you're actually designing it right and not just adding steel to look cool.

Does pro-am allow bolt-in cages? I saw a reg for a drift org somewhere that said no bolt-in. Just after I bolted mine in.

Bolt in cages are dumb. Would you trust your life with a gun operated by a rubber band in a gun fight?

I know XDC doesn't.

Which is kind of strange, since their regs are almost a copy of SCCA, which does. As well as NASA.
