Black Friday Drift Mayhem! Friday, November 26th
we are going to work on the groups to get a little better. im not event track staff or nothin, but try to help out always. driver cap isnt really needed and if it was,,, prolly @40 which is one less than was there. lets just realize that the events are the best FL has seen in years.
8-10 runs used to be expected at events but lately with some low attendance events = 15-20 runs. we got spoiled.
if you all only knew how few people run the events, you would understand when there is a few glitches. few more helping and 'dedicated' (not slacking) people to run things and these events will get better and better.
got to the track at 4pm- setup stuff, then did some ridealongs/tips, and some working the start with Vas, watched some sweet drivin, left the track at 3am after clean up with the cfrc crew, nos crew, and dj crew. got home at 6am. I got 0 runs. I'd do it again tomorrow cuz the event was AWESOME.

that was a killer event. I cant wait for the next drift event. I need to get a track car for this stuff. The lights made all of my pictures suck though. It got sick at the end when the A & B class got together and let it all hang out on the track and wall.
I'm told I was on the gas before the rear tires hit the ground again.

You guys running 240s are doing it all wrong. $1000 car got me around for 6 months and is invincile on the track. Nothing got broken aside from the P/S tail light housing and the trunk won't shut now. Fuel tank is behind the rear seat, a good 3 feet from the rea of the car, and no suspension links are even close to the bumper. The bulbs in the tail lights didn't even break.

Here are some suggestions for managing the events, coming from an experienced hand:
Driver cap at 36 - 12 cars per group, assigned groups upon tech inspection, to be altered later depending on driver skill level. At 45 mins per group and a grenerous 45 seconds per run you will get at least 5 runs per session, x 3 sessions = 15 runs per person, making it a better run/dollar ratio than an autocross.
Tech inspection - have a tech tent close to the pits for people to roll into once they've unloaded and before they are set to run. Not performing a tech ninspection can really be setting yourself up for delays later on.
No dead time - having more than one person at the starting gate will ensure that any talking to's or radi communuication don't interfere with the regular rhythm of sending people.
Cool-down zone - 2 cones set up as a gate along the return path to shut people down from getting wild and invincible will let you send the next driver all that much sooner.

CFRC is not running any drift during December, giving us time to create some rules & and event structure. For instance Id like to see gates open for drivers way early (4p.m for a 6p.m event).
Please continue to give input everyone. We have something great going on lets make it the best it can be.
I love you Chris.

The tech situation I also agree with some sort of change. I think thats easiest to solve at least. It boils down to needing more track workers. hell, we didnt even have cone runners so they just stopped having cones.

I usually tech every car, but since most cars I was already very familiar with from past events, I only inspected cars that I've never seen before to save time.
We were a little understaffed for this event, having good help is hard to come by, but we will be working on improving organization and driver classification for the 2011 season.
