The Art of Drift and Power Slide
Shows its artistic side as we paint some stripes with fast cars.

The Porsche at the beginning is doing a 4 wheel drift, this is more for the racing and track crowd. I dont think he is trying to drift, it more like he went into a corner to fast and recovered gracefully.
Some are similar racing techniques, or they are plaing around learning oversteer control.
And some are doing donuts.. But overall Id say its a different crowd, different technique.

ANd Kp is how old.? Ever done any Real racing?
Kp in a grown up world one would say, I dont agree that its a 4 wheel drift because of X Y and Z.. Then I would reply well at the end of the turn the car breaks loose and you can see the front wheels slide. and it looks like the car is AWD.. So I see your point Since I was running the playback at 2x to skim the video. I may of only registered the last portion .VS the huge drifts like on Top gear.. etc. where you can see the car slide big.
Have fun guys. No Im not stereotyping all drifters, actually I have raced with Chalrie from the drift group. He is a really good driver. But the discussion here seems to prove he is a unique person.
Next time I want to have this level of a discussion ill go down to local high school.

Yea this is great. Some one that races with PBOC and is an instructor comes over to the drift forum to see whats up. Ends up dealing with what appears to me is teen ricers that cant have a discussion without using language that they can say around Mom.

Second, the techniques in that video and true drifting are miles apart because, like I said, they are simply over steering some. Not to say that doesn't take skills, but I find it hard that doing that vs getting a car 90*deg to your roadway at 100mph and 300ft from the actual turn are the same skill set.
Third, the guy you are specifically calling out, has that 100mph+ skill set and much more. He is one of the best drifters in the southeast USA. He doesn't have to like your video or share your opinion on things, but I understand your point of how he stated it, but its just the internet, relax.
Check out the other video that was posted about Kansai and you'll see a much different style of driving, which is what we are all about. This isnt a 'bad' video, its just not really drifting to us.

First of all thanks Box240 for taking the time to have a conversation and point out real facts. I was not aware that drifting involved speeds above 100 mph and would like to see some videos that reflect this. My take on drifting was closer to the Kansai all star video that was just posted. To me is more like synchronized swimming with some smoke from a Kiss pyrotechnic show thrown in. Not done at high speed, but I will admit car control skills are there.
I had come over to this forum because my wife and I have decided to cut back on motorcycle racing and she wanted to try drifting. We still will continue our 12 to 24 endurance car racing though. Hence my comment or opinion on real racing.. Drifting already has a stereotype that keeps other auto sports drivers away. I figured I would see what this is all about and wouldn’t you know my 1st experience is 100% of what the stereotype portraits.
Lastly if KP has great car skills and can easily move from one form of racing to another they yes I am impressed. If he is the southeast champ of drifting , that to me is like saying Dalten Gabbard is the southwest champ of sprint car dirt racing. OK he is good at a niche market in his area. That still doesn’t justify an arrogant attitude. Real motorsports is something you go over 100 mph and can die doing IMHO. I was not aware that these standards applied to Drifting. With that said, Rally Cross is what I would consider a motorsport that one would use drifting skills. If KP is also a top ranked Rally Cross driver then I am even more impressed.
If any one can provide me with some links to videos of drift events that the cars are exceeding 100 mph I would really like to see them. Even better would be ones that have the video feeds with the G force and speeds shown up in the corner.
THanks
