Default New to Drifting

As the title says im new 2 drifting, and i have a few questions from u guys and girls in the drift "world". Right now im HOPEFULLY gonna get a 89 s13 with a 95 ka24de swap with about 70k, swap was done right and i trust the person that did it, the car has these mods:


1989 pignose s13 hatch
fresh paint
black interior
cd player
sleepy eye conversion
custom all red tinted tail lights
new brakes all around
95 s14 ka w/70k
91 auto ecu
5spd
Autometer tach and shiftlight
electric fan
new fuelpump and filter
all emissions and egr removed
injen cold air intake
obx longtube header
cat delete
N1 style cat-back exhaust
3 strut bar set-up
tiens springs
kyb gr2 shock/struts


Now is this enough to get my sidesways and on my way 2 learing? and how much trouble do u guys get into with the cops and where can i go 2 find out how 2 get into sanctioned events??? It seems Nissian drivers are very close nit ppl and u have alot of fun lmk all the details of ur world and how i can get on my way

sounds like a pretty clean car man, definately enough to get you sliding IMO..

All you need to drift is something with 4 wheels as long as its mechanically / structurally sound you are okay.

rwd helps too.

limited slip helps more.

suspension helps more.

power helps more.

steering angle helps more.

but help is not needed AT ALL.

To answer your question about trouble with cops, the answer is tons. Some of the best drifters are known by name by Tampa and St Pete's finest.

Also, things to watch out for on S13 that will cause you a lot of headache:
Overheating
Leaky Power Steering
Shot rear subframe bushings
Non-working power windows (if equiped)
Poor idle/no O2 sensor/crappy gas mileage
Noisy/broken timing chain guide (under valve cover at the front of the engine)

Trust me, I've seen underneath many a 240.
