Default drifting mr2's?

hey im tired of these gayass FWD cars. and i want to get into something that is new. now, i dont like the 240's much, since they are starting to be pretty common and it seems thats all you see in the drift scene. i was thinking of MR2s. they are rwd and all, but dont make any real impressive numbers stock. i was kind of wondering what kind of future the "post" 2000 MR2s have for drift? ive seen bill slide the hell out of his near stock 240 a while back, so i was thinking you can still slide somewhat with a mr2. i think the numbers are like 138hp and 125tq. i just want to be different, so thats why i was thinking of these. what do you guys think? i have way too much to learn about drifting, so itd be nice for the input.

MR2's are slideable...just not easily

It's not the low power that makes them difficult to slide..it's the fact that they are a mid-rear platform car. By the engine being mounted behind the passanger compartment, it produces an undesireable weight distribution that just makes the car a bit harder to slide.

Good luck though, it's always nice seeing people slide things other than 240s

well lets crunch numbers..you seem like a number kinda of guy
119hp 98 240sx AUTOMATIC will slide...
138hp mr2 5spd will slide..

hp really doesnt play too much in the ability to get the car to slide..you have to take driver ability to control the car and the platform..

mr is a rear engine rear wheel drive..very hard to keep in control due to the way the car handles..would i suggest it..hell yea..why the hell not its a rwd car..just do not expect to get a rwd car and be a master drifter cause that sure as hell will nothappend...and more likely then not you'll sell/wreck it before you get to go to your first event..make sure you get a nice one people may need parts off of it..

yea everyone destroys their drift cars..it comes with the territory..

but yes my ka made 119 to the wheels with a 3'' exhaust 2 exhaust leak no filter a test pipe and the gorgeousness that is the automatic transmission..

but you are expected to hit something at some point..everyone hits something goes into/through/over curbs/bush/fence/tree..

it happends just expect for it to happend so you dont get all teary eye when it does..when i hit my first and only curb it was funny cause i hit it really really hard..just broken controls arm and more drifting..just expect to hit something at some point

if u have ever seen drift bible with Keichi tsuchia(sp) u will know that it is definitely possible to drift a mr2. just not that easy for a beginner cuz of the weight distribution sucks for sliding.

ok, you can drift a mr2, but some things need to happen 1st. LSD is an absolute most, not an option. mr2's have this thing called SNAP BACK, and it will kick your ass if your not ready for it. it takes someone who knows what their doing to set up an mr2 for drift, not saying it can't be done, but its not as easy as a corolla or 240. if you actually want to know how just give me a pm and we'll talk about it.

mr2
m-mid engine
r-rear wheel drive
2-two seater

one common problem as bill stated was whip back and if your not experienced it is very hard to learn with and the cars tend to have bad oversteer making it easy to spin out. but once the technique is down it would be an awesome car to drift all you need is alot of practice just like any car. good luck
