Default Where Are The Ae86's?

as i attended dday4 i really got to thinking, where are all the ae86's ?? there were so many 240s which is to be expected but there were like only 3 corollas drifting. out in cali the ratio is fairly even where corollas run rampent. people say they are harder to work on and maintain and stuff but is that it?people are to lazy? they are dirt cheap and not that hard to find. swaps are just about cheaper than any other line of cars ive seen and easy to get and replace motors. tons of aftermarket support, etc

is it because they are not cool? i can understand if 240s are more popular but 3 in a big event like dday4?

i m not trying to bash on 240s or insult their owners.i like them, but why are there only a hand full of us corolla owners interested in drifting or the japanese scene.

im in the middle of a 20v swap but when its done hopefully i will attend some drift days after i practice a little with the new motor and clutch etc.

ps im really bored so if this topic dosnt make sense, or starts a flame war ill read it tomarrow and check out the aftermath

It's da troof. A more diverse selection of cars would be pretty cool. I like the corollas, more people should drift them.

It's harder to drift corollas.

FL's skill level isn't that high enough to support a higher # of corollas.

I want to drive one

Plus the corrolas are a bit harder to get set up for drift. I was reading a build up for an average drift corrola from a car they found for 1500 bucks. Even after 5-6K they were still NA and basically all the mods were replacing stuff that was "old" to make the car reliable suspension wise and brakes. Engines are robust but the rest of the car is just aged.

All the decent AE86s are owned by Ricans who don't want to give them up.

mine's in my garage, but its too nice for me to want to turn it into a drift car. and they do drift better than 240's but it does take alot more money and resources to get one up to that level. parts are harder to find and alot has to be custom. and being that they built over triple the amount of s13's then ae86's parts are alot more abondant and cheaper to find. when you hit a curb and bend something you can always find a 240 in the junk yard.

the only reason i wasnt out there was because i couldn't register cause orlandoins attacked dday4 like flies on shit

by the time i got around to try to register it was full

yes my fault im not bitchin

but it is true

harder to drift
nice ones owned by ricans
harder to setup

plus if you think about it
the 86 is almost at its 19-20-and21 birthday
which means it will soon be a collectible

i have about 2000 into my 86 and about another 4000+this upcoming year
it is hard to drift

either way i don't feel like rambling on so byebye
