And just for the 1000's of people all over the internet too ignorant to actually do their own research instead of relying on hearsay, the heavy-ass RB was so terrible, that it made my car weigh less than probably most of the 240's on this site.
With full interior and 1/4 tank of gas, my RB20 with big heavy front-mount and other shit weighed in at 2,650 lbs, that is 100 less than it did with my ka/auto trans that the car had when I bought it.
The accident was just that, an accident. I had my mother in the car out for a drive on a backroad and I was going around a corner, pulled toward the edge of the road to avoid an oncoming car, one tire dropped off, then the rear-end swung out when it came back on the pavement and there was 25' dropoff staring me in the face...
So, anyway, I'm fixing the car up, it is 90% back together and going to the paintshop in a month or so when I get time. I'm just glad I'm not another s13 with a redtop SR in it
Nick
Another genius. Just so you know, the RB20 engine/trans combo is much much lighter than an rb25, and the rb20 engine and trans weighs about 30-40lbs more than a KA24de and trans, so with my auto trans I had on before, my car actually had a worse weight distribution.
Add to that my carbon fiber hood, battery in the trunk, removed front bumper support, my weight balance was probably better than stock. The car handled amazingly, I have many friends who can attest, I just fucked up, and my shitty worn out Hankook tires proved to me that they were one part of the project that deserved more attention.
But yeah you're right, RB's really suck.
On another note, I've never seen a single SR20'd 240 get into a wreck; must be the perfect weight distribution
