I agree that drifting a truck is a real bitch, but hey, someone's gotta try. Once I get on some lower profile tires, it shouldn't be as difficult. My truck is really tipsy on 70-series balloons.

It's raining tonight, so I'm gonna head out after work and get a little practice in. I'll try leaving it in 1st gear and seeing if I can pull of an inertia drift without losing it.

Any advice on pulling off a 180 or 90? I'll bring the big road cone with me and try it.

auto drifting is not too hard once you get use to it..tire setup is a HUGE issue...inertia drift are gonna take alot of control so try simple power overs which are much much easier to do..once you get the hang of it...then move on up to inertia..but in a truck i would be scrared of flipping it

Nah, I'm 4+ inches lower than stock, so my COG is pretty good. Tires are my weak link right now.

Anyways, I tried a few power-over's tonight with moderate success. Gotta do it in 2nd or 1st definitely. Can't i-drift yet. Practice practice.

Any Sarasota drifters wanna give me a ride?

well i had a 97 tacoma 4x4 v6 5spd and i drifted that. but you had to be in second gear cause of no lsd. even though it was a 4x4 i took the big ass muddin tires that were on there off and put on a set of 255/60/15 which lowered the truck about 3 inches so i didn't have to worry about flipping it. i really wanted to slam a 4x4. i think it would have been neat, but i think it was impossible cause of how toyota set up the suspension. i still wish i had that truck, that thing flew. i disconected the speedo to see what it would do and it ended up doing 137mph and ran a high 15 sec in the quarter.

see what kind of conversions they have for better suspension, then swap a 3sgte!

..a full blown drift truck would r0x0r.

looks to me that you have leaf springs in the back...

Uh yeah, it's a truck.
tell you what. just get rid of the leaf springs all together and go with a independent rear strut suspension.

well i just figured out how to consistantly get my dodge ram 1500 4x4 sideways and this is the full size truck thats stocker than anything. well first off it only gets sideways in the rain cause it so huge, no rear weight, and no lsd. but i just gave it enough gas to brake traction and didnt really push the throttle any further. gave me great control and actually slid. i was only going about 20mph. didnt just spin the tires and go straight from too much throttle.

Driving home from my girlfriend's tonight I got a nice treat... brand new pavement and hard rain. Power-over drifting was simple in 2nd gear. Actually had a few that weren't embarrassing too. Most I can get is about 20 degrees off center, but I'm learning.

My plans for this truck are to rework the suspension entirely, possibly into a full Supra IRS rear end, and get some hi-pro drift tires and not-crappy rims. LSD and new sway bars will finish it off. That along with tuning the turbo properly and I should have a nice drift machine on my hands.
