First forgive me if this post seems retarded. I did search and came up empty. In building a drift race car, what needs to be added (ie roll cage, special bracing, frame reenforcements, ect)?

All you need is a car running in good condition. No leaks, no loose stuffs and a helmet. however to compete in high degrees of racing you need.
Roll cage - ~$661 shipped from DGTrials (might as well since 2005 requires full cage)
Driver's Harness - $100 (you probably need a new one if you're more than 2 years out on SFI dates)
SA95 Helmet - $200
Racing Suit - $300 (single layer)
Fireproof Underwear - $90 (top and bottom)
Fireproof Socks - $15
Racing gloves - $40
Racing Seat - $400+, plus rails ($250?) (the rules say the seat must be attached to the roll bar/cage, but I find it difficult to imagine how to do this with a stock non-racing seat)

depends on the money
but if its your daily driver get another car do to the fact that it is gonna be in shops all the time for installments
i have a daily driver (camry) and a drift project car (86 corolla coupe gts)
im doin everything though myself accept for the roll cage
im getting the roll cage installed so ill still havde a daily and then sellin th daily so that way i have buku money to through into the drifter
its a cool plan and i hope it works

invest in a better driver..

spend ALL of your money on seat time, it will be worth 9843654687 times more than any mod you can buy.

 

Drift Race car?

Have you been watching too much Shuto Kousoku TRIAL? Drifting isn't the fastest way around the track...

If you mean a higher-class car, then it depends on what org you're planning on driving with (SCCA, DGtrials, D1)
