us market did nto get teh ae85 cahssis only the ae86 .

the ae85 was japans version of the sr5. They say the chassis was less reinforced... but basicly the ae85 was a sr5 but with a 1.5L sohc.
I think the ae85 was just local (japan) market, and they only exported the ae86 chassis. many places only got the levin, while we only got the trueno, but at least we got the gts, many places only got the sr5 (like australia).
Its wierd though, the vin # on a sr5 will start with ae86, but on a real GTS the vin will start with ae88. Thats one way to tell if its a true gts...
