I personally own a 2.0 turbo and I will argue that a 4cyl turbo is about equivalent to a V8 but I will also argue that a V8 with a power adder, if built right, is one of the finer things in life and I don't think that there is anything that will ever change that. Displacement and wieght are the two factors you look at to make a car fast, and if you don't have the displacement like me you must find something to make up for that, but when you already have a big motor and then boost or juice it is just plain nasty. I really can't stand the import guys that loose to a mustang and then try saying things like "unplug 4 of your spark plugs then lets race"..... that is nothing other than stupidity. Like I said before all cars are different and if a car is respectable then thats what it is straight up.

 

unplug 4 of your spark plugs?wow first time i heard that...an whoever said that should be shot.....if you cant match v8 power straight up then dont race em.....

I didnt know about the race until the other day so I wont be going but name the time and place,and bring a Ben Franklin if you feel like it.

 

i think the difference is that alot of things have changed since the old days. we have new cars, with more complicated engines, new ways to hook them up and new styles. things just change with time. the same reason people wear different clothes now then they did back in the day. i have respect for all cars and all car freaks, old and young. but i was raised by old school parents. my dad was into cars and got me into cars. i just took a different route because i wanted a new car and the thought of putting a whoopin on a v8 with 4 less cylinders intriged me. and it was the car of choice for my generation. im a little older than most import owners (26).

but if they didnt have imports i would definately own a fast domestic. and i will again when i get older. hell, my first car was a 83 firebird. i just like to go fast, it doesnt matter what type of car it is as long as it satisfies my addiction and looks half way decent.
