RPM & speedometer crazy after new engine install

RPM & speedometer crazy after new engine installI'll try to sum up the events without going into too much detail.

My brother's best friend blew the engine on my 2007 charger and I had to get a new one. He dropped it in for me but I decided I wasn't comfortable with his 'knowledge' of engines to finish do the wiring.

Bought 2008 Chrysler 300 engine
Had a shop hook up the wiring, and the car turns on and runs but as soon as the engine starts the tachometer hits 1000+ RPM and the speedometer goes to 80+ MPH (yes, while still on park). It drops to normal once I shift and move the car.
Shop says it might be a problem with the transmission, but as they don't specialize in them they can't tell me for sure.
Called a transmission shop in town and they told me they don't think it is the transmission but it could be a problem with an electrical module causing this.

I'm scared to run it just to get an error code that can be pulled and fμçk up the new engine. Any ideas would be very helpful.
