Join Date: Apr 2008Posts: 310Feedback Score: 2 reviews, 100%jerking/ jolting at stop HELP!!!!!hey guys i have noticed it since i bought the car a few months back with 9000 miles on it... it happens at least once a day if not more. when i come to a complete stop the car will jerk forward then back a little enough to think someone may have tapped me from behind... tonight it did it with my lights on and in the reflection of the car infront of me i saw the lightsdim slightly when it did it.... anyone have this issue or know what it is please help me... idk if its the motor, or maybe the tranny or maybe the computer... mods are, ingen CAI and deleted resos and suitcase muffler replace with after market mufflers but this also did all of this before any mods.... thank you in advance everyone

its normal and alot of us have had that. do you fly up to the red right and slam on the brakes?? if you stop hard from speed the trans down shifts it self to help stop the car. it has something to do with the trans and tps sensor. its nothing to worry about


.---------------------------but you can try resetting your throttle. turn the key to on but not runing and slowly push the gas to the floor than ease the pedal back at the same rate of speed than turn the key off. this resets the tps sensor.

when you panic stop the trans down shifts it self and the tps sensor holds the throttle at 800-850 rpm's so the car doesnt stall out when you go from throttle to brake in a quick stop. the bump you feel is the pcm reseting the tps sensor and the trans setting. thats the best i can explain it. its hal doing his thing

You can get surges from the throttle blade not closing all the way. Over time you can build up carbon on/in the throttle body or on the throttle body blade causing it to NOT close properly which can cause a surge do to the air being pulled in "oddly". This is also known as a coke buildup. A simple TB cleaner and wiping down the blade good too can help alot.

 

I wouldn't think this is a fuel pump issue at all. It's sensor related. I am referring to your intake throttle body and blade. You would have to hold the throttle in the open position to see if there's any coking or carbon build up. Just looking from the outside in really isn't going to give you the whole picture. When you open it up, often you can see build up just behind the blade and inside.

If thats not the issue, I'd look at cleaning your MAF sensor with MAF sensor cleaner and/or a electronic contact cleaner.
