Default Police Pursuit Thread

My 2013 was a former FHP car and had 143K, picked up at an auction. High, yes, but not too bad since it's likely to be a lot of miles cruising on the highways (there's some info about checking engine idle hours and some other parameters that indicated my car was not run crazy ). The interior was in pretty good shape - no seat rips/crazy stains and not dings, rust, etc. Took it to my usual mechanic to do their purchase-type inspection and it was nothing out of the ordinary: Brakes needed replacing, rear tires worn. Had a clunk

up front which meant control arms had to be replaced. Likely that you *might* find similar things. But the oil/coolant/etc was good. No signs of wear and tear on the engine.

I would sat they are safe. I don't know about the airbag issue - you can run the VIN through a Dodge site and get the build info (mine lists side airbags for front seats as well as side curtain). I'll try to dig up the link if you can't find it searching the forums. A Challenger owner I spoke to who was a former Sheriff's Deputy said that most departments are very

diligent about upkeep and send the nasty email reminders to officers if they become late, even so far as not letting them take a vehicle out until it's addressed. Don't know if that holds true for all organizations, but I would imagine that people who put their lives on the line are going to be in cars that are as safe as possible.

Hope this helps.

-John

2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit SiriusXM Satellite Radio plug and play installationIn the event someone wants to install a plug and play SiriusXM Satellite Radio into their 2015+ Dodge Charger Pursuit/Police and utilize the factory satellite radio antenna: A 2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit (Trim: X5X9) has a stock factory OEM SiriusXM Satellite Radio antenna mounted on the roof. To avoid placing a magnetic mount antenna on the roof or dash, the factory antenna CAN be used for a plug and play satellite radio or an aftermarket headunit. I am limited to 5 pictures per post so please bear with me.

This vehicle had a VP2 touchscreen Uconnect headunit from the factory (no GPS Navigation or Satellite Radio tuner built into the headunit). The dash panel was removed and was held in by clips. Be careful that a clip does not get stuck/bent when removing the front dash bezel. After the dash/bezel is removed there are 4 screws which hold in the radio/headunit.

On the back of the radio there are four connections. The OEM wiring harness, a USB style connection and two circular clip-in plugs.

The white connector is for the terrestrial radio antenna (AM/FM stations) and the blue connector is for Sirius Satellite Radio XM Satellite Radio and SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

Part 2
The blue plastic FAKRA housing can be removed to reveal the standard SMB connection (standard antenna plug for all satellite radios).

To prevent any modifications to the vehicle the blue plastic cap/housing can be left on and the following satellite radio antenna extension cable can be used: https://www.xm-radio-satellite.com/s...tension-cable/

Route the cable behind the dash and run the cable to your desired radio mounting location. In this example it is neatly tucked under the arm rest.

I highly recommend the Satellite Radio Superstore for your antenna extension cable due to its sturdy construction, fast shipping, and the company’s excellent customer service: http://www.satelliteradiosuperstore.com/

The 2014 Dodge Charger Pursuit models do not have Sirius or XM Satellite Radio Antennas installed from the factory to my knowledge. You can easily determine this by inspecting the roof for a satellite radio antenna.

Very easy to use the factory satellite radio antenna on a Dodge Charger Pursuit for your SiriusXM plug and play receiver rather than running a magnetic mount antenna.

The top speed is a configurable parameter of the PCM/ECU's tune. Any of the DiabloSport tuner devices can be used to adjust it up or down as desired. I set the top speed on one of my previous Challengers to 80 mph once just to see what would happen, and sure enough, once I hit 80 mph it start cutting fuel and wouldn't go any faster.

BTW, the 149 mph top speed isn't specific to the Pursuit trims AFAIK. It should be the same for any non-SE/SXT car as well (probably higher for the higher trims like SRT and SP).
