Default The problem was.... Cracked piston (SRT4)

Pics of pulling the motor
Video of piston out of the block

So.... 24psi, 100shot, Super stock turbo, and pump gas isn't good for your wallet.

Screwed the cylinder wall up a good bit too ( nothing un-fixable ).

Well, when you push the limits, it happens. If it was any other 4 banger, it would have given up about 100whp ago and 5 bottles of 100shot ago...

sad to see but hopefully now you'll rebuild and run your setup better utilizing boost and not N2o for a ported TDO5 because IMO, N2o should be used for spool purposes if you have a big turbo on our cars but that's my thought. If you're rebuilding for drag purposes then use whatever you want but for a safe and long life street setup then your motor should be a touch on the rich side with a super safe tune...

Better utilizing boost = a bigger turbo. I'm not going to get away from the stock TD04, I love it. I race a lot, but I also love the way it drives.

I could have kept the nitrous, but... It was more of a tuning PITA, and I was tired of tuning the car for 4 different combos etc.

Besides.. The car went 11.94@111mph on the TD04 no nitrous, and 12.0@114mph no nitrous, so really, its already pretty quick. I took me a bit to settle into staying one speed, but I want the car to run 11.8 year round, every track day, without changing anything but the gas and front tires.

Also, at my rate of nitrous consumtion, coupled with a friend letting me use his 15LBS. bottle and my 10LBS. bottle, fill ups were $75 instead of the normal $30.

I don't regret using the nitrous at all. When the car was just S2, 22'' slicks, and open catted stock DP it ran 12.0@114mph on the bottle, which was WAY faster than I ever planned to go at the time. But 150+whp more, was asking a lot.

I plan to keep the car for "the long haul", and hope I can run 11.8 for years to come, while I watch everyone else trade into the newest "hotness", built cars, then sell them, then build another one, then sell it. I plan to be still rocking the neon.

With the wiseco pistons, and dropping the nitrous, I don't forsee anything other than the trannys days being numbered, but I'm sure it will still last for a good while. Its prob. got 500 passes on it now ( between street racing, track racing, and A LOT of tuning passes ).

sorry about the typo on the TDO5(I guess I can't get that damn TDO5 HR off my mind-in another few months I should have 1), anyway that was probably the most sensible response I have seen on TR yet. Well I would venture to say if you use the same setup minus the N2O(lol)and with the new toys available such as what SCT and new design elect. has to offer, your car would be a monster, but as the old saying goes "IF YOU DON'T BREAK STUFF YOU'RE NOT GOING FAST ENOUGH"..

Interesting. So your running the PTP FP mod with stock Fuel Pump? I heard that shortens the life of the stock fuel pump. Correct me if I'm wrong.
