"Overview
The Caliber is an all-new model from Dodge that redefines the entry level sedan. Introduced in concept form at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show, the Caliber has been designed as a world car to be sold in more than 100 countries throughout the world.

“Dodge Caliber is pure Dodge, and its bold styling separates it in the crowded compact car segment,” said Trevor Creed, Senior Vice President — Design, Chrysler Group. “Caliber will allow owners to make a statement by driving a vehicle unlike anything else offered. It will definitely stand out on the road,” Creed added.

The Caliber is by most definitions a crossover SUV with the classic 2-box proportions of a sport-ute. However, the roof peaks just over the driver and slopes downward towards the rear hatch, giving the Caliber a sleek look. The 5-door hatchback Caliber is expected to be the basis for a number of new cars coming from the Chrysler group over the next several years.

Three different engines will be available at launch - the 1.8-liter, 148-horsepower engine is standard on the SE and SXT; the 2.0-liter, 158-horsepower engine is optional on the SE and SXT; and the 2.4-liter, 172-horsepower engine is standard on the R/T. Later in the year, the Caliber SRT4 will arrive boasting 300 horsepower from its turbocharged engine.

Caliber will also feature Chrysler's first continuously-variable transmisson (CVT), designed to increase performance as well as fuel efficiency. Another first for Caliber will be its electronically-controlled all-wheel drive system. The system works on demand, driving only the front wheels until power to the rear wheels is needed, which optimizes fuel economy. All-wheel drive will initially be available on the Caliber R/T. Caliber will be available with a diesel powerplant in Europe, but no decision has been made regarding availability in the U.S." msn autos

Besides the weight and and ugly rear, i think it's a nice car.
