or you could do things the easy way take a long piece of heater hose and put one end up to your ear and put the other on various places of the block and head and what not. this will make it much much easier to hear whats goin on without havin to listen to all the other bs in the engine bay

hmck20 ive done that before and i always hear the same amount of noise in several areas. but i think im going deaf anyways
