Default lowering suspension help

Hello everyone

I need some help. I have a 1988 Acura integra and I am trying to lower my suspension.
The problem I am running into is that myfront suspension is torsion bars and I have no experience witth them. I heard of reindexing the t-bars but have no clue on how to do this. I tried cranking on the adjustment nut the car lowered a little but not nearly as much as I want I am trying to tuck some 14" tires and need at least a 3" drop.

Q: Anyone know how to reindex torsion bars?

Q: Would stock shocks prevent the car from dropping lower when I crank on the t-bars?

Q: What kind of shocks would be best to prevent bottoming out? when I cranked the t-bars that little drop made the car bottom out on medium to large bumps. so if I dropped it more I am sure I will have an issue with bottoming out?

Any help or ideas would be great.

Thanks

Without looking at your particular car............some general principles......
One way to reindex a torsion bar is to press it out of the lever, rotate it one tooth
and reinsert it into the lever. Mark it with a center punch before removing anything.

With some cars, backing out the adjusting screw/bolt will lower the car. Each time you
adjust the bolt/screw, make a note as to how many turns you crank it, so you have
a reference point to put it back if needed. Make a note also of how far the car moves
per 4 or 5 turns............ for future reference.

You would have more inner fender clearance if you had used 13" wheels.
AND you would need less of a drop to lower the car I usually recommend that people lower a car first and then choose their wheels. It was a real heart breaker awhile back
when I had to tell a person that his wheels would rub and that his car could not be lowered.

If a shock is supporting the weight of the car, is bottomed out, and will not
collapse further, that is NOT the way to prevent the car from bottoming. It
is not the purpose of a shock to keep the suspension from bottoming on the frame.

If you want someone to look at your particular car, get back with me.
I'm sure that since others have read my reply, they can now elaborate
on what I said.-Bob
