Default Rear Axle Alignment Issues

I have a B15 with a solid rear axle. The toe on the rear drivers side is -.23 that is the max spec. The passenger side is only-.04 degrees toe.

Now here's the idea. The axle is 'C' shaped.

If I slot the driver side mount 1/8th of an inch and pull the axle back. Then I should technically even out the toe a bit correct? Remember that the axle is a weaker than shit, so I believe that it will bend without an issue.

What do you think? This is a last ditch effort before I just buy a new one.

Have you tried just loosening and adjusting the axle assembly? There is usually some slop in the bolt holes to allow for adjustment.

If that doesn't work, you can buy shims to go between the hubs and the axle to adjust the alignment angles. Probably a lot cheaper and easier than replacing the whole axle assembly.

Did you hit a curb or something to knock it out that far? If so, listen for a failing rear wheel bearing, it doesn't take much to damage one.

Yea Loren for some reason I think shims are not commercially availble but that does not mean we can't do It

The car as owned quite a few curbs. The wheels bearings seem fine, no noise or drag thats noticeable. I'm going to try loosing it up and pulling it back.

hit up some shims. I mean it's probably not the best idea but it will work. Although if you have disc brakes in the rear you need to make sure to shim the caliper bracket too. This will insure that you do not have abnormal wear on your brake pads. or hook a come along to a tree and yank that shit

It is not possible for a car to own a curb. A car can BE owned by a curb.

Default Straightening a solid axle

If I understand the question, The best solution is to put something
in for an axle that is straight.

...... If you don't want to buy another axle from the junk yard, get another piece of straight material,...... and after carefull measuring...... weld on the end plates and any other fittings to be sure the end plates are squared to the axle. TreeKiller could weld it for you. And as long as you are making a new axle, make it from stronger stuff than the material that got easily bent.
-----------------------------
Sliding the axle back/forward on one side to compensate for it being bent, is not worth the trade off of lengthening/shortening the distance between hub centers on the car's left side versus the car's right side....and the axle would still bent.....and the car would pull slightly to one side...and
would not handle properly.....

and BTW.....how much does a new axle cost?-Bob
