Default 4" lowering and tire width/diameter tradeoff

Someone asks........
I have a EK sedan I lowered 4in.. the stock tires dont rub at any point... I'm worried if I go with a 17x7 rim with low pro tires it will rub horribly... know anyone who tried 17x7's on a 4in drop?? also what about 16" with low pro tires?

Senor Honda replies...............
Sometimes there's a tradeoff with lowering vs rim
diameter and width. I can figure the size relationship
when I have to. It varies by car.

Comparing only these two factors, my experience is that
lowering, after careful measuring of a suspension will produce
more performance in cornering
than wide tires on an unlowered car.
------------------------------------------------
I usually lower a car first, then find rims that will fit.
Too often people have brought cars to me that have
wide rims, and nothing can be done to lower it further
without their tires rubbing....my heart goes out to those guys...
they spent their money, sometimes overspent, and now they are stuck with a less than optimal cornering setup......and really hard springs
to preserve tire clearance, don't help a cars street cornering.

My Accord is dropped 3", as witnessed by hundreds of people at car meets, but 4" is enough to overcome shock travel on a lot of cars that are street driven (with bump stops still in), to keep the suspension from getting beat up.

You might have the tire/rim shop do a test fit before buying
your new rims.-Bob

The stock height on these cars for the 14s is 23.47 inches. The tire sizes that my database suggested are 2154017 and 2253517. The 2154017 is for a 7 - 8 inch wheel, whereas the 2253517 is for a 7.5 - 9 inch wheel. Can the 2253517 be used on a 7 inch wheel??? Yes, but because of the width on the tire it will stick out alot further than the wheel. The other two sizes the I recommend are a 2054017 and a 2153517. The 2054017 is the same exact height as the stock 14 inch tires. and the 2153517 is actually a half inch smaller than the stock tires.
All four of these tires are available through my shop. Unfortunately I do not stock them but they are in my warehouse so I am able to get them throughout the day. Typically if you order them before 11 I can have them same day, before 3 I can have them next day before noon.
I will say that the 2054017 is a dime a dozen and very affordable. The 2154017 is a little tall and if you have an extreme drop I wouldn't recommend these tires. The 2253517 and the 2153517 are both expensive due to them being a specialty size.
Bob if you or anyone else is interested in these tires give me a call at the shop and we'll get you taken care of. Also, we have a zero clearance alignment lift to service all the lowered vehicles around town.

Would the next person to get 7" wide 17" wheels into the front fenders
of a car with a 4" drop, post up some pics of the type wheels you
used?

I am interested in knowing the offset and other details. Thanks.-Bob
