I am at a complete loss.
There are several new treatment options out there, after the initial surgery.
My mom went through the surgery then some radiation and now she's on some meds (herceptum, I think it's called) that are administered through an iv drip every so often.
She is doing pretty good, but has some side effects. She bruises really easy, and can't lift more than like 5 lbs. above elbow height.
Interestingly I've lost 3 grandparents and my father to cancer.

I'll never grow up, but getting older along with your parental units does have the expected and unwanted drawbacks called life. I know our mom has had some lumpectomys (sp) and such which always scare me. I don't know alot about what that means, but from what I have read it is nothing good. I really hope everyone's parents pull through. Best wishes.

She'll be in my prayers Scott. My mom has had a few scares with lumps so we always dreaded news like this. Ironically, one of the oncology doctors I work with was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. She's doing great now. I wish the best for your mom. Hopefully, the surgery will come back that it is localized. Tell her it's so important to keep a positive attitude. Let me know if you guys need any information on treatment options.
Chris - I will also pray for your dad as well. Billy's dad had a massive heart attack a few years ago and it is such a scary feeling.
Scott and Chris - stay strong for your parents and families. I will pray for you two as well.

Really sorry to hear about both you guys ordeals. Just make sure you get to say something. 2 years ago, my parents went to visit my grandmother. They left, next weekend she was to go in for surgery. She died afterwords or during I forget. I never went with them both times :\

I would not be as worried if it was found on a regular check-up because it was not. As a matter a fact she had not been checked in over 8 years.
So the lump can be felt on the surface. Hopefully it is localized because if it is not they said they will be removing lymph nodes in her chest and arms too. Either way she has to do radiation for 3 weeks and that is going to really sap her energy from what I am reading. Thank god no kemo.
Thanks for the offer on the info. I will let you know after tomorrows surgery if I need any additional. And as far as being strong I am putting on a good front around her otherwise I am trying to keep myself busy because when I am not I am trainwreck.
To the rest of you thanks again for all of the kind words, as I mentioned she goes in for surgery tomorrow so please keep her on your list at least until then.
