I Am Perplexed ? (Need Input)

This is rare for me to be perplexed since I am usually pretty decisive but here it goes. Let me set the table for the perplexed part.
As some of you know I am a huge race fan. Domestics, imports, drag racing, circle track, whatever I like it and go to a lot of races.
Also I love to take pictures, while I am not the greatest nor have a lot of high end equipment I think my pics. come out pretty decent given no formal classes or anything.
One day about three weeks ago I get this e-mail from the event coordinator from NMRA (National Mustang Racers Assoc.) saying she has seen a lot of the pics. I have posted all over the net (that are always hyperlinked to TR
) and that she would like to talk to me about doing some computer and photo work for them and sends me a media kit for last weekends race.
So I go to the race and they have me meet with the main man with NMRA / PRO. After speaking with him for a while and not knowing what to expect he offers me a job to do live web updates from all the races ! This means taking pics. and also reporting as a live simulcast from events. So Basically I will be sitting in the air conditioned tower doing uploads and watching racing from around the country ! They will fly me out to wherever the races are on a Thursday and return home on Monday mornings. Pay all expenses and a salary (small I am sure given only 11 races) but hey being paid to watch racing ?
Now the perplexed part. While only once a month this would mean I would miss my sons t-ball games, daughters dance stuff, and of course my wife / home for four days every month. Then I have my career in Real Estate. A lot of my business happens on the weekends not to mention I do property management so my phone can ring at any given moment.
While I was gone to races part of every weekend of March and April I was back home most of the time by Sunday afternoon. Plus March-April are always the prime race months given the weather and for the rest of the year there will not be many event down here so I get my fill this time of year.
So what do you think ? I know which way I am leaning but would like some comments from you guys / gals.
Thanks for reading my long winded EMO post.

Id be up all for it but im single and dont have to worry about kids and my job as much as you do.
Id say go for it and do it for at least this year just do it. Because you know a big part of you will be kicking yourself for not doing it.

doing whatever makes you happiest is a nice philosophy...but it doesn't realy hold water in this situation.
the responsible thing to do is to discuss it with your wife and really think about how it is going to effect her and the kids. Once you have a family things do change significantly from the days of just being able to "do what makes you happy". I think that you are on the right path here scott. You seem to be more concerned with the family and the career. I would pass on this one and continue to do it for fun. also you might offer to do it for them on a more official basis when they are in town... that way you can get a bit of recognition for for th awesome work you do.

Sounds like a pretty cool opportunity, but perhaps not worth the strain/stress it will put on the family life and your other career. I like Scott's idea of doing it locally when they come to town. Just make sure they provide lots of extra press passes.

I wouldn't think once a month would be a problem.... but yup - talk to her about it and make the decision that's best for you... Is it a contract? If not, then go for it and if it becomes a problem then you know what to do....
I think Nasty91Notch works for them as well... but no clue what he does...

You can go as long as you still find time to show me houses
Talk to your wife first. As a wife of a husband that sometimes travels, it can get really old and I don't have to take care of any kids. But, once a month isn't too bad either I guess. Whatever will make you AND your family happiest.

I wish I knew what to tell you, Scott. What does the wife say?
