As a few of you know, the ZR-1 was finally finished up last week, I just got done installing the new motor & was eager to test her out, I put a call out to a few guys in town to see who wanted to race.

The one car i was dead interested in was a Camaro, late model 98-99 version, LS1 Motor 383 CU In with a 2 stage Nitrous Kit, running 260 HP settings, he's been going pretty much un beaten this year, he did loose once to the notorious Blue Viper from down south on the dead dig race, but was able to beat him from the roll, this is the race we were going to do.

I have seen the Camaro race at the drag strip, before he was booted off of the track for going too fast the car, with a 230 HP shot, went 10.3 @ 135 MPH

Here's the stage.

Initially we were both to have had passengers, I had one of the local supra guys riding with me 215 lb. (I told him he needs to loose some ~, the Camaro ended up been by himself.

We agreed to go on 3 from a 40 MPH roll, 4000 RPM for me, perfect, he was happy too.

We lined up, & on 3, hit it. I was able to pull in 2nd, i shifted into 3rd & held on, he started to come round, into 4th gear I went & was able to catch him back up, then I pulled away by middle of 4th gear, it appears he missed shifting into 4th.

We then ran again on the way back, same race, this time, i noticed him adjusting the valves on his bottles (He was upping the bottle pressure, this car has a push system on his tanks, he can hold 1000 + psi all day& if needed, increase to over 1200)

The outcome was similar, except this time, he never missed 4th gear & was able to keep in front of me by 1 - 1 1/2 cars, so as it stands, the first race the ZR-1 had, i LOST, am I bothered, HELL NO, I am over the flipping moon.

The Camaro has a 2 stage NOS stroker motor, runs 135 + MPH with even less power than what he raced me with, I'm all motor & I had a passenger, plus, the car hasn't been tuned yet, I told him, we're running again this weekend, this time, no passengers, or if there are passengers, we both have one.

There is no way my car would ever have hung with that Camaro last year, he's running faster than my best ever time, but this year, it's a bit different, the ZR-1 is making what appears to be a "bit" more power, the TQ. on the car is incredible, i am going to guess at least 40 FT. Lb. more than last year, HP i am estimating to be slightly higher too, uptop, the car was ulling hard.

I think if the weather is nice, I'm going to go to the track this Sunday after tuning the car & see if we can't break SW's old 1/4 mile ET, I'll get one shot only, as the track is now highly restricted, roll cages & such.

All in all, I'm so pleased with the car, i give Kudos to the Camaro, his car is quick & let him know, i will be back the weekend for my re match

Limeys ZR1 is dead fast. Should be a solid 135mph all motor car and hes going to install a 150 shot direct port later. Anyways a few detials I didnt really bother to get into.....
Even though I won my car was not 100%. All through third gear is was on 7 cylinders. Not sure why it dropped out...but it came back as I went into fourth. The first stage was barely hitting too. Oh well. I think When he sprays the 150 and I spray the full 300+ it will be a very tight run.
My car is going to get a thorough going through this weekend to see if I can fix the miss. Its likely just plugs ( I slapped them in there in 15 min prior to going out) but I want to do some checking on the engine condition. If all is good I am going to go up to the 300 shot and likely another 100 on top. Look for 800+ rwhp soon.
Anyways...due to future races for Limey (mostly Viper guy) please keep this info IN HERE!

Limey has it all done 415 ci very high compression etc etc.

As for 4 digit #s...that will be the next motor. I hope to start on it before the end of the year. Mine will also be a 415 ci, but LS6 heads. Hopefully making 550 rwhp on motor and Ill spray the rest to get close to the magic #.

Hory skrit, nicely done! Nothing like busting someone's ass with a brand new combo with something you've been running for a while. Was this on Saturday after I talked to ya?

Yes Limeys car is all motor. Its an awesome machine. probably 600+ rwhp all motor. Im not sure of the specifics but I believe it is very high compression (like 12.5 to 1) and of course 415 ci and 32 valve DOHC (Ford can only dream )

It is also likely to be the fastest all motor ZR1 in the country. I believe he is going to beat SW's record of 10.4 in the 1/4 easily.

But as of right now its on my kill list
And I have things planned to keep it that way
But it will be tough....Limey has unlimited funds

It's actually a 427 LT-5....shit, the ONLY one in the world. Good kill Al.

Scott, who cares if Limey was all motor? His motor costs more than Al's car with mods included. As the old saying goes, its run what you brung and hope its enough to beat the other guy......

Well to try to diagnose the miss...pulled apart the top end. Found atleast three broken inner valve springs. So Ill be down for a lil while. No more than a few weeks. Good news is there really was no damage. We did a leakdown check and found all cylinders to be atleast 95%. The highest was 97%. Excellent for a nitrous motor with a bit more ring gap to begin with. And excellent considering the abuse its had. So with the bottom end holding up well...its time to turn it up. When I come back out it will make more power.



It definately felt like it was down on power when I raced Limey. I thought I was just getting used to it...lol.
