i am thinking about investing some $$$$$ .....any tips for the stizock market i should look for?

I thought about it, but for now I'm going to save a bit more money and invest in real estate. It is definately a more sound investment...I've known too many people who have lost their entire investment with stocks. With Hillsborough County's growth and steadily rising property values, real estate is almost a "sure thing" in Tampa.

well, my dad and i are pretty gung-ho into investing in some stocks right now (we're n00bs to investing), i appreciate the tip about transaction fee/commisionary brokers John i will look into that.....we're going to call Charles Schwab or somthing like that....Bill, is your fiancee a broker?

Are you looking for long term or short term investments? I own a bit of stock in the company I work for. I also own a condominium that I got for a good price plus it has gone up in value quite a bit over the past 3 years.
If I had to stick with one or the other, I'd go with real estate. Like Alan and John said, real estate is a really good investment. With stocks you really have to know what your doing and have some luck in order to make money so be careful where you invest.
I get all my stock shares at discount through my employee stock purchase program at work. If I didn't, then I probably wouldn't own any stock at all, plain and simple. In fact, after I make my money on the stocks and pay my capital gains, I plan on putting it towards the principal of my mortgage loan to save paying interest.
If you want to do any online trading with stocks then I suggest scottrade. It's only seven dollars per trade, which is usually much cheaper than a broker. Good luck man.

i am looking for short term then move onto long term......i dont have quite enough money for a nice real estate investment quite yet....so thats why i am starting out small
