ok, so i know that this forum has a rollercoaster effect, mainly pertaining to FFA. i do not mind booty/hot girl threads but they are happening once a week now and people dont search (there are 30+ page threads on them probably from months ago). sometimes things are dead, other times they are lively and kickin' but along with that comes drama and etc etc. lately people have been so annoying they are dragging og people and mods who usually arent real jackasses into personal grudges and whatnot. this has to stop.

i wish i had saved my signature i had about a month ago with a few simple rules for posting here. it was more to be funny but they were legit.

right now im asking:

a) please get rid of the post count. if people really want to see how veteran someone is, they can still see the date registered. (you are not your fucking post count!) these noobs are racking up hundreds in less than a month. with my old camrydan username i posted pretty frequently from what *i thought* and when i switched over to this dan account, i had a little more than a 1300? or so with camrydan and that was within a year and like 4 months. quality points can remain so admins can monitor their purposes for those and those never reflect post #s since it depends on the size of the post (and if people wanted lots of quality points, they would have to spend more time racking up huge posts which i would hope would have some kind of substance to them).

b) come up with a limit for newbies. either do not let them post more than such amounts for their first month or until they reach a certain post #. i dont know if the php whatever this board is allows that. what would be easier is to ban people from posting in (but allowing them to read) FFA until they are for example, say, up to 100 posts and/or 1 month old. this would encourage them to go into tech and car related forums and prove they are here for at least some aspect of what TR has to offer. and if we catch them whoring around in the newbie forum or TTT'ing for sale threads to up their count, we can set their limit higher for being 'bad' lol. this wont necessarily stop the current hoarde of whores we have roaming about but will help the future members get integrated into the site instead of just joining up, posting in newbie forum, then heading straight for free-for-all to ask for porn and flash programs to waste time on.

c) resetting peoples post counts back down to low #s is another suggestion im just going to throw in here, i think it might work with some but with others it will just encourage post whoring to get it back up in # again (which is why id rather it not be visible except on the profile page (it is like this on certain sites and if i just get curious to my post count # i can look but not have everone know it all the time). even resetting EVERYONE'S (minus admin or something maybe) post counts would keep everyone's 'registered' date intact but maybe set some people straight. i dunno.

i would love to have everyone have to re-register, but that would kill the 'registered' dates and etc and would be alot more work to give people access to this forum and the girlie forum and admin forum. i suggest the A option, with maybe the B added for the noobs but bar them from posting in FFA for like their first month.

and i know alot of the so called problems dont have anything to do with being a postwhore and just with being a general jackass to the rest, hell ive even lashed out lately just because im seeing so much bickering that i have to stoop to their level so theyll listen to me and stfu sometimes.

honda-tech limits the hell out of their n00bs, but then again most of them here have whored themselves up to an unrestricted level. This site should be 18 and up, I swear.

 

Sorry folks, I love cars and working on them as much as the next guy but I'll be damned if I've gotta wade through all the Tech forum BS just to be able to post in F4A. Answering the same damned questions, over, and over, and over again just doesn't peg my fun-meter. Yeah, this is a car forum site but quite frankly talking tech and car rumors/sightings all damned day makes for on hell of a boring time.

As for post counts, so the hell what? So some noob is racking up posts like they're going out of style. So what? I think the issue here is that some of you are getting miffed that these kids' post counts are higher than yours and are detracting from your "l33tness." If you really believe the above statement, "you are not your postcount," then you really shouldn't give a damn what anyone's is.

I really don't see what the big issue here is. Is it that we actually have to wade through tons of BS posts to find that small nugget of an interesting thread? Welcome to a large forum my friend, TR isn't as small as it used to be.

 

I'd love to agree but just imagine how boring it would become. Hell look at this forum. We all know/knew each other pretty well and we're all getting up there in age but this forum isn't exactly hopping. Mainly we just sit around bitching now days about the current state of TR, if we got rid of the kids, what would we bitch about then? Aluminum siding vs. Wood siding? Yes...I see a healthy debate stirring already.

Don't mind me. I'm a month late getting a project out to the customer and my nerves are wearing thin. Move along...nothing to see here.

at least we keep them all intimidated with intelligent conversation in tech forums so that they stay out of there. I'm not sure if the blame for that crap is rightfully placed on the admins/mods...or are the new members of the site just THAT bad?? are kids today this stupid? are they this immature? did they all just scoop their brains out with a soop ladle and leave them in a bag somewhere. F4A is TR's raging bile duct.

well back to My happy existence in my two tech forums...

let the kiddies play in F4A..which REALLY should be moved to www.tampaforums.com with a re-direct. much like www.off-topic.net spawned off www.honda-acura.net. i think thats the best idea. but sadly it seems that in the quest for $$ we are trying to keep TR.com as busy as possible...even if its with useless crap posts by useless crap members. i remember when TR.com was a place for local enthusiasts to come together and talk cars and racing.

Admins this one might hurt a bit..but i'm just being honest.

It seems like those who run the site are "member whoring" just trying to get site memeber #'s and site post totals up as high as possible...for what reason?? $$$ to fund the server and the bandwidth...that i understand. but the catch22 is that with alot less crap posting in f4a the server demand wouldnt be nearly as high..and the cost to run this site would be lower in turn.
