Betterizing our children
i could care less if noobs have higher post counts than me and its not for that reason, its more because they see someone's higher (like their friend from the ricer lunch table at school) and they all have to 'one up' each other. i do notice how certain cliques of friends have to post to their other friends' comments everytime with something like 'ur gay' or 'u suck cock' or something totally off topic to the subject, even if the subject itself is nonsense. i feel like popping some brain cells to be able to get wtf theyre saying.
as for the member whoring, thats why i said, rather than have everyone reregister (and those who dont visit often would be like "where the hell is my account?"), just go through and delete all the accounts that havnt been accessed or posted from in the last year (that in itself would take alot of #s down i bet) and pretty much kill all the trolls. i love seriously?, and feces (he's OG!), but some of these kids have 2 or 3 names over the years and i know we dont have as many actives as we do totals. (i myself have a camrydan name that you can delete, i dont care if its from oct 2000, i dont need to show everyone that im 'more veteran')
for the most part i have enough time to actually sift through the shit in f4a, so you will see me post in some stuff, because im dead bored. maybe when i get a better job, i wont have as much time to sit around, this is what keeps me going all day (and f4a is busy, i can only wish for a day where the tech forums can be refreshed with new stuff every 10 minutes).

You made some valid points Scott but one thing you failed to address money wise is the fact that with a larger, broader user base we have more to offer potential Vedors/Sponsors.
I loved TR when I first joined, it was fairly small and close knit. It has changed and evolved just as anything will and I still love it. I've had to change my browsing habits to compensate for some of the newer members and some of the newer posting habits in FFA, but I'll take that if it means a larger, more active board. FFA is just that, Free For All. It's a place to go and discuss other things non car related. It will always have more posts and activity because anyone on the site can go in there and post something. It's not the same as a Tech forum or the Auto-X/Road Race forum that is more limited.
Growing in size can't hurt the site as long as we maintain a focus on Cars first and FFA second. More users = more Vendors/Sponsors = more money = better, cheaper events in the future.

billy i think we are in agreement on that one. I understand that users = sponsors = less $$ out of pocket for us and those who actually pay for TR.
i guess there is more than one price to pay for having a popular site......

I agree with what Scott said for the most part.
We really need to focus on car stuff first and FFA TRama secondly. By the looks of the last Track Event we obviously have a lot of car people so we need to keep them interested.
Otherwise we will start loosing the core car people to other local sites.
My .02....

are the new members of the site just THAT bad?? are kids today this stupid? are they this immature? did they all just scoop their brains out with a soop ladle and leave them in a bag somewhere. F4A is TR's raging bile duct.

Plain and simple this is why I rarely even read FFA anymore. These ideas are good Dan but they've been discussed in the Admin forum for longer than I can remember now to no avail.
There are pros and cons to everything. Removing post counts would make a lot of us happy including myself, but ...it would probably generate more moaning and belly aching from the majority of the TR userbase who just happen to be postwhore teenagers who suck at racing and post in FFA and nowhere else.
Bottom line is we have to keep the majority of users happy and that unfortunately means that if this site turns into Tampa FFA then so be it.

can i quote the part in italics anonymously in my sig? ahahah greg ur the man.
I really like Scott's idea of spinning F4A into www.tampaforums.com . I don't know how it would work from a money/finance point of view, but it could become extraordinarily popular.
I think TR would be more popular if it wasn't all car-oriented.. keep reading.. there's a point.
If you move all the TRama and F4a over to TF, you stand to gain a huge audience. A lot of high school kids aren't into cars yet, or at all, and they would be drawn there. Also, by having all the drama over there, it would clear up TR for the real car enthusiasts.
Just an idea or three.
