What would I do with the motor? That's the part of the car that's not really worth anything.

I'm just trying to get rid of the car. I'm not really a big Honda fan. It was my old car that I gave to my sister. She hydro-locked it. I don't want to fix it... again.

This is a huge bargain for someone. If I can't sell it as a whole, I will part the thing out, but I'd rather get rid of it in one shot.

First, you don't need a new crank. The engine immediately stalls when you hydro-lock since water cannot be compressed. This means that the engine doesn't run with a bent rod or anything. Because of this the crankshaft isn't scored or unbalanced.

Second, if you have all the tools, a D series motor is easy to work on and or pull if needed. I've gotten the motor out in under an hour using nothing but jacks and jack stands. The motor is easy to disassemble as well. A couple of head studs and the head comes off. A couple of bolts and the oil can drops out. Easy access.

Third, parts for a D series are very very cheap. You can find them around anywhere. You can even pick up a new motor for $300 or a block for $150, thus would debunk the purpose of putting new rods in.

In conclusion, it's a old Honda. Potential buyers are either going to A: strip it out, B: throw in a different motor.

So I would appreciate it if you're not interested in the car, DON'T POST. Not everyone selling a car is a nitwit illegal alien with a grill full of Altezzas.

Thanks..... and it's a 5 speed.
not to knock you, but i believe the guy knew what he was talking about. in order to get new rods on, you need to press the pistons off, Which is needed to be done by a shop, costing money, then sense there oem they have a tendency to crack pistons when they are being pressed off, and when you pull the crank, you are also going to have to replace then main bearings and thrust washers, and piston rings as the guy said. which makes what you said mean nothing, not trying to bash your thread but he was right, please post pictures asap and get this thing sold!

The point of what I was trying to say is D series parts are cheap. You can pick up a block or a whole new motor for under $300.

exactly my point why the hell would i want to spend 1.5k on a shell that motor is worth nothing just as you said why the hell would i go threw all that just to fix a d series motor?? i could just take this b series i have sitting around and drop it in but damn 1.5k for a shell?? g/l not really a good deal...considering there on here for cheaper...the only plus you have over them is a good paint job but considering i work at a paint shop not a big deal to get a free 1...
