Need Pioneer AVIC-d3 installed in my 2002 Passat
This is not a knock on the original poster, because he sounds like he's quite intelligent and knows what he needs better than many people. Kudos for doing your research and getting what you need. This is just a general statement about what I see daily.
It's a little funny and a lot sad that people will pay more for one dinner than they will pay to have an expensive car's electrical system worked on and modified. People happily pay 30$ to get their oil changed, and installing electronics (PROPERLY) is only about 20 times more difficult than an oil change. Yet some people seem shocked when they are quoted very reasonable pricing.
Can someone please explain to me why that is?
Customers seem to be split into 2 opposing groups anymore: ones who never question the price, because they've grown to know me and they know that I will always be fair and when they come to me they will not get better work anywhere. I'm lucky to have a solid core group of those people, and everyone who steps into my door gets treated just like them.
And the second group are the ones that always want something free or nearly free. These are the guys who ask us to install their amps for 10$ because "they've got the wires", or ask for a 20$ discount on a 40$ part...I don't get it. Or worse yet as I had to deal with once this week, claim to be "short" on cash when it comes time to pay the bill and tell me they'll come back later and pay it off. Do you go to wal-mart and leave with 100$ worth of stuff and only give them 75? Does Longhorn take that prime rib off your bill because you didn't bring enough money??? ummm no!

I agree 100%, I also get all monies up front on those "simple installs"
do it yourself, i paid $100 to get mine installed and the work was shitty:
-Alternator wine
-Wrong harness
-Idiots ran the audio wire on the same side as the power wire
-GPS Antenna wire was lose i had to take it back
guy tried to sell me an amp saying reason why my car had altenator wine was because i needed an amp for my inetrior speakers lmao, i have them running through factory bose amp already..
just do your research and do it yourself, it's easy as shit i wish i would of took, the time to look it up. it would of saved me a bunch of time and money. I just ended up taking it out and redoing everything myself.
an that's from a so called "reputable" audio place.
I won't say the name of the business cause i bet they are on here.....
