I am also going to be buying a bike and I will tell you what I have learned so far. Yes the gsx-r 750 would NOT be a good starting bike. Most bike riders would recommend a 500 or low end 600 cc bike for a beginner. Also, taking the MSF course is a must and smart thing to do. Buy your gear, good gear too. Helmet, gloves, good jacket, boots that go above the ankles, pants are good too. That's all for me though. I am sure someone else will chime in with some good information.

If you go to a MSF class you will get reimbursed the money IF you buy a bike from a Shop. Plus they will help hook you up with Insurance.

if you want full coverage, it's going to be very expensive!

I pay 53 and change per month for full coverage through progressive. But I have a Perfect driving history.

I can bet that you don't have uninsured motorist coverage! That's where the money comes in!
