I dont know what your talking about, Harley has had the VR 1000 for years now, and its running AMA competitive races

Just some specs on it un-modified

Engine Type: 4-stroke, water-cooled, fuel-injected, dual overhead camshafts, four-valves per cylinder, V-twin
Displacement: 60.78 cubic inches, 996cc
Bore: 3.858 inches
Stroke: 2.600 inches
Fuel Injector Type: Magnetti Marnelli
Throttle bore size: 54mm
Compression ratio: 11.:6:1
Lubricating system: Dry sump
Torque: 100 ft pounds @ 9000rpm
Horsepower: 150 @ 10,000rpm

Oh Im sorry was that 150hp, oh wait, what does the gixxer 1000 put out, I think its a mearly 140hp?

To bad harley wants an arm and a leg for it, I will say they are way overpriced on some shit....

To get back to the original question... I would have to say CBR!! In fact, I have a 900RR if you want to buy it!

Now to get back to the argument... Harley is known for being maintenance hogs (no pun intended)! I've had Harley's in my family since I was as tall as a kickstand, and even my family members who own them say that they envy me in the fact that all I have to do it change the oil every 2000 miles and put tires on it twice a year. They are always having to take theirs in for this and for that. Comparing Harley (cruising types) and Jap/Italian Sportbikes is kinda apples and oranges. Harley tried with the Buell, but they just don't have what it takes... not yet. Who knows, maybe someday! Look at the AMA and IMA circuits... no Buell wins, because the majority of them end up with a DNF!

not to be rude but perhaps this should have been a new topic called "what do yall think about ninja's" just a thought as opposed to sticking it onto a thread from a month or 2 ago

and in my opinion they are as "cool as ice" ehh some of you will get it others may not but i promise it is funny.

Harley VR1000 ( yr. 2001 )
Dry weight: 390lbs.
Torque: 100ft. pounds @ 9000 rpm
Horsepower: 150 @ 10,000 rpm

Suzuki GSX-R1000 ( yr. 2002 )
Dry weight: 375lbs.
Torque: 72ft. pounds @ the wheel
Horsepower: 142rwhp

Dont compare this bike to the gixxer 1000 cause the gsxr 1000 is a road bike not a factory based AMA race bike. The gixxer 1000 comes off the showroom floor with 142 to the wheel thats almost as much as the harley but the gixxer is lighter. I would be very interested to see these bikes to go at it on a race track.

The VR1000 is a great bike, but you have to admit what suzuki did with the stock gsxr1000 is truely amazing.

Ya, its Nicky Hadens vtr1000 against everyone on their inline 4 cycl. 750's. It really doesnt seem fair but it acually works out pretty good cause Matt Maladin won 3 championships in a row :o

God I love AMA
