Default Honda 929RR vs. Yamaha R1

Im looking for a new bike.
Not brand new though...probably a 99 or 2000.
Which one of these two should I get, and why?

I really like both, but I dont know much about the technical/mechanical specifications of either. If I was to base my decision on looks alone, I would choose the R1. But then I love hondas...so i dunno...

Help!

Thanks,
Mike.

Both are excellent bikes...

The R1 has more power and torque and is the faster of the 2. The honda is agile and light feeling, more like a 750. If I were you I would try to sit if not ride both of them and then tell which one you liked. All up to you

I actually went to Powersports today and sat on both. Unfortunately they were both out of my price range, so I didnt want to test drive them.

They actually feel similar, and being that im not a very big person, I was suprised to find that my feet were completely flat on booth...and that both felt very comfy for larger sports bikes.

I did notice however, that the 929 did feel slightly lighter and easier to balance. I like that.

So now I just gotta find a nice one for a good price.

the 929RR is a mere 4 lbs heavier than the 600 CBR F4i while the R1 is SIGNIFICANTLY heavier. but if it were me i would rather have the 929 because it will be an effortless ride like the 600's are and will out handle the R1 all day long, and is fast enough to satisfy almost anyone (0-60 in 2.7) :o

929 would be my choice. Its not gonna be much slower than the R1, I dont care what anyone says. Just keep in mind that one of the main things you should pay attention to when you buy a bike, is your comfort level on the bike. You should really ride the bikes before you purchase, however, if you felt more comfortable sitting on it.... then more than likely I'm sure you'll feel more comfortable riding it. Good luck!

Most people find the 929RR to be much more comfortable than the R1, but the R1 will spank the 929RR on the track, on the street with the average rider you will not notice too much of a difference in performance.

Thanks for all the input guys.
After checkin out a couple of 929's, its kinda looking like they are slightly out of my price range.

Ive been checkin out R6's.
I can afford a fairly newer one with few miles, but I question the power.
I know its a fast ass bike, but my last bike was a 600 and I kinda want to step it up a notch.

A GSX-R 750 would be perfect, but they are hard to come by.

Well...im just gonna keep lookin.

Tried the cycle trader?
I'm sure you could find plenty of 750's in there.

I feel alot more confortable on the R1. The 929 tank feels a little funny but nothing I couldnt get used to.

Oh yeah......... and what make and year was your last bike??? Cause if it was a older can-o-tuna or something like that.... you would be surprised at how much faster a newer 600 would be
