need bike suggestions
I need some suggestions for my girl.
I know I know, go sit on a bunch and see what you like/what fits well.
EDIT : Summary version -
Don't know where to even start looking when it comes to smaller bikes. Seems like finding the right size bike is even more important, and even more tough, for someone smaller.
-she's about 5'5 <110 pounds
-likes the more aggressive stance (something like the 05 zx6rr) versus the more upright -stance (like the 08 fz6r)
-Needs to be decently lightweight.
-narrow frame
-still have enough go to be enjoyable, no 250's looking for a 600
-weekend warrior type riding
-suggestions for set-ups/mods are more than welcome as well.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Problem is, I don't really know where to start.
I'm over 6 feet tall, 220 pounds, so I've never really looked at bikes from a smaller person.
She's about 5'5 and less than 110 pounds.
She's ridin some of my old bikes before, 08 fz6r, 06 zx10r, 2005 zx6rr.
The zx10r was just too much bike for her. It was pretty beastly. I loved it. Can't wait to get another.
She hated the fz6r (i did too) it was too much of a cruiser, because of the way the weight was distributed on the frame, it felt heavier than the zx10r. It was way too tall. Just not an awesome bike. Didn't feel like you could "get away" if traffic was being dumb. Not so much a problem with the weekend cruise, but for a daily ride that's a big point. We called this bike Betty as in Betty the cow, she was the sleekest, fastest, big fat cow.
The 05 zx6rr, she fit a lot better on. She didn't get much seat time on it to see how she liked it, but being a little bit smaller than the 636, she seemed to fit better on it. Even the 636 seemed like a big bike. I think with some tweaks, getting it set up more for her instead of my big ass, she would have really liked it.
"They" say that the 600 cbr would be a good option because it is so light. They also have said that a yahmaha would be the best because it is a smaller frame like the zx6rr, but has the torque of the bigger 636, which makes it easier for someone who doesn't ride all of the time. But you know how "they" like to run their mouths.
So far, from what I've put together, she likes the more aggressive stance of the sportbike, versus the more "upright" stance of a sport/cruiser (not really sure what to call that kind of bike, lol)
600 is more than enough.
She's not looking to race it or track it so it doesn't have to be blistering fast.
She also won't ride it everyday. She'll just ride with me on the weekends and what not, but I want her to feel comfortable none the less.
Doesn't have to be a brand new bike.
Not really looking for anything too much older than say 2005.
Ideally looking for that generation of bikes that was out from about 2005 to 2008 ish.
So, with all of that said, anyone have any suggestions?

man i dont want to read through all of that.
With that being said...start her off with a 600...she gets a 250...she will hate herself in the end...if you go with bikes like the ninja 500r...it has that upright stance that i believe through the skimming i did..she hates the upright feel.
go to the nearest used bike store...figure out where all the 600's are chilling...and sit on EVERY SINGLE ONE.
depending on the years everything will be different...in 06...yes the 600rr's were lighter...but were wider...and im 5 foot 9 and have issue flat footing with both feet..so i have to lean to one side. Where as the gsxr (god have mercy on my soul for even mentioning the squid bike of choice) i was able to flat foot with no issues and it actually rode pretty comfortably.
So all in all..youre right..go sit on a bunch until she finds what fits her...when she sits on it she will know. She will fall in love and be in one with the bike like her tits loving the perfect bra.

but seriously i would narrow it down to the 600s... mainly the cbr600 or the zx6r. she might find the yamaha way too aggressive of a stance.
if i were to pick between the zx6r or the cbr, i would pick the cbr. take note of the seat stance and the seat comfort. i found more comfort with the cbr, plus i think the cbr has a better suspension than the zx6r. (my opinion only).

From your book above...
What it sounds like she needs is something Light & Narrow framed, but still has some go...
-R6
-CBR600RR
-Triumph Daytona 600 or 675
-------------------------------------------
Those are gonna be you lightest and still have some go for her.. They all have the aggresive riding position, but are all comfortable from my experience... We'll balanced.. Let her pick from those for looks.. You will get a decent ride for her with any of those...

yeah i know, what was I thinking actually posting that much. need to go back and post a cliff notes version before the book.
didn't know that about the 06 zx6rr. good to know.
seems to be pretty common that people bring up the cbr600. Any years better than another?
didn't even think about triumph. have to keep that in mind.
Thanks guys, that's the kind of inputs I was looking for.
Oh, and thanks thanking, that's the kind of input I was expecting.

+1 on the R6

so slim it down to the 6rr or r6 (sorry but im anti gsxr) and overall i would say the r6. i ride my friends 6rr here and there and the seating for myself (everyones different) is horrible, my balls hurt the whole time (which she doesnt have those so she might be ok with a 6rr).
also when i got my 636 i was only 5'6 and had to tippy toe so what i did was lower it, get use to the feel of 1 footing it and raised it back up 3 weeks later. which maybe an option for her to do until she can handle the 1 foot.

+1 on what saywhaaa said, she might not like the daytona 675. really sits high. drove it for 2 hours and i somewhat liked it. smooth delivery of power (almost feels like there is no torque)
narrow it down to a 06 07 08 cbr600 or the 05 06 07 zx6r. if you want to include the r6, be my guest.
i am an anti gixxer as well, its a squid bike.
