Pacific Coast Highway (Route 1) CA
Who's ridden the PHC in Cali? I'm going to L.A. for a couple months (maybe permanently eventually) and I'm debating on shipping my bike there. I'll be on the beach right by PHC and it looks pretty bad ass. Thoughts?

Ship? Why not ride out there and ship everything else? A week long bike trip!
I've never ridden the PCH but I've read about it. Scenery is supposed to be breathtaking.

ive driven there from LA to san francisco pretty nice ride but do stop by mulholland highway since its on the way......
. pretty nice road but be very careful ahead of you. some people press on their brake all of a sudden due to blind corners in the highway. definitely bring the thickest jacket you can find since its gonna be cold.
i highly advice not riding your motorcycle everytime at i-405. although lane splitting is legal, i dont recommend it unless the traffic is really bad.
go outside of Los angeles and youll be fine. stop by solvang/ santa barbara for a good visit in the danish town but before that, youll pass by cachuma lake which is a pretty good road/ride with good mountains/hills. breathtaking and awesome.
let me show you some pics of my vacation there.... brb

this is another way to go to san francisco gunning it across the desert (i forgot the name of the highway) but avoid that place at all cost. it was 109degrees the summer i went across the plains.

this is a couple riding around cachuma lake.

I've driven part of it in a car, I was there a few months ago on business and was driving north from Bodega Bay up HWY 1 up along the coast. Would be perfect area for riding! All I could do was think about riding instead of driving the rental Ford Fusion I had. (though the fusion proved to be pretty fun.)
Ship the bike, it'd be a trip of a life time. Just do it.

do not ride for fun in i405 coz its not fun. some sections of pacific coast highway is slow and sometimes will go 15mph. you know why? coz the fucking tourist wants to slow down and enjoy the view. it happened to me twice. going to sanfrancisco and coming back.
ride the PCH and enjoy as much as you can. then hit up the mountains in malibu (mulholland hwy)
as for rentals, i believe you can only rent harleys. sportbikes are out of the question unless you guys know of some companies renting it for not-so-high-of a price.
