Default Can't start when too cold?

I haven't ridden my bike since mid Jan. I usually start it every weekend and occasionally take it around the block. For some reason it refuses to start when it's really cold. It happened again this morning. I believe it was in the low 40s here last night? Everything seemed fine and it turns over as usual but I get no ignition. After several attempts of turning it over for 5-10 seconds it usually starts and runs perfect. Today I couldn't get it to start at all.

The battery is going on 4yrs old but it seems to be good. Gas is less than a month old and should be ok? Any ideas or is this a common thing?

I know it is very common with quads, but they (most at least) are carbureted, and you need the choke to get it running. I know for every 15* of weather change, you need to move your jetting one increment. With Fuel Injection I was under the impression that the EFI box automatically adjusts to the temp. I'd assume it's no different with streetbikes?

Batteries as reccomended by the dealer should be changed or have a life of 3 years. It sounds like maybe your battery is just old and the cold finally killed it. That or your battery just has a low amount of CCA's.

bikes are very voltage dependent, it may be cranking over just fine but not have enough to fire as well. I had the problem when my VR went bad and I kept having to charge it but your battery being 4 yrs old I'd say that's the likely culprit. check the voltage

My bike would randomly reset the cluster all the time. All my settings, trip, time, etc. It would happen while cranking. I also had to push start it every time the temp. dropped to the 50's or colder.

I put a new battery in and it hasn't done any of this since. I wish I would have done it two months sooner lol.

I agree, they will not start with low voltage... And it may sound like its cranking normal but that little less than usual will make the differance. I thought I was chasing a electrical problem on my old 750 for a few weeks but turned out to be a semi weak battery. There cheap enough to change and get your moneys worth of time out of them.
