uhhh... You realize that the Joe Rocket RKT101 is made by HJC, right? They even use the same visors.

They are but there are differences between the two. Do a search.

I've done some research on them when I was looking for a Vemar CF helment (which is the best IMO)

There are some, but given that HJC makes both, the HJC is higher priced, the HJC is more widely sold and awarded, and that the only negative in a VS between the Joe Rocket is coming from a single guy named LEX_RAVEN, I think I made the right choice.

BTW, if you search for yourself, you'll find the exact same thing LEX_RAVEN spouted in a dozen different forums, being cut and pasted to other forums by other people. That doesn't make it gospel.

LEX post on Feb 2008:
1000RR.net - View Single Post - NEW Joe Rocket Carbon Helmet + REVIEW ...

Gawarrior cutting and pasting the same thing LEX posted a month later:
http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/showp...89&postcount=8

Here's a bazillion other posts where the same exact info is regurgitated:

"They both use the same 4X4 carbon fiber" - Google Search

Seriously, there's several dozen posts with the same text cut and paste. Find me another source that says something negative

something else to consider is the JR CF helmet has no chin curtain. I wouldn't want a helmet without one.

there is nothing wrong with hjc helmets!

i think its funny how people think because it's not $700 that it's junk...it makes me laugh....hjc has a huge variety of helmets to offer and have been out on the market for a long time for everything from cycle helmets to snowmobile to watersports shit even...u guys make me laugh...

i rock hjc helmets and don't have a problem with them at all..it's not my favorite of my helmets but there good quality and i've never had a problem with any of my hjc helmets....

btw...i went down wearing a kbc helmet and it saved my noggin...it got jacked but i was fine...i personally like hjc's better than kbc helmets, but thats because of fit and weight issues to my personal liking...but that kbc saved my ass just fine...

so please stop with these it's $250 not $700 so it must be crap retarded statements...because it's just marketing that makes them so expensive..it still cost the same amount to make it in a factory!

I'm sure that there is a lot more research and development in the more expensive helmets. So even if they cost relatively the same to produce the better engineered of the two would be superior. I had a KBC that i bought in Korea (just to use untill my Shoei showed up) and it was HORRIBLE to wear. I was loud as fuck, buffeted (shook/wobbled) at high speed, uncomfortable, poorly ventilated, and heavy. I hated that helmet and it was one of the "high end" KBC's.

There is a diminishing level of returns as you get into the higher end helmets. Same goes for anything - such as high end leather jackets.

I have an Alpinestars MX-1 jacket. MSRP is $599 and Alpinestars now has a thing with vendors that they can't sell it less than MSRP. The label says made in China. My cheap Cortech jacket is made in Pakistan. Obviously both are not coming from a high end leather factory in Italy... sure the MX-1 fits better, has nicer lines and is overall nicer made. There's better attention to detail, but the Cortech will work just as well.

My point is that for 20% of the price you can get 80% of the way ... if it's worth it to you is a matter of taste. You aren't getting 6x the helmet for 6x the price.
