new bike and my first problem
I'm a pretty noobish to bikes. I just bought a 98 ZX6R ninja. Was doing fine just practicing getting use to throttle and clutch and took a really really small spill but now bike doesnt want to start back up. Backfired when I tried to start it.
I don't know if carbed bikes have a tip over sensor or not. do a google seach to check, but I doubt it.
its prob just flooded since when laying on its side the bowls pour their fuel out into the cyl. just give it some gas and start it. it should clear up.

what he said,
plus you can just leave it UPRIGHT this time for a day and hopefully it will start after. no worries.

carb bikes do not have a tip over sensor. its prob. flooded and you are going to have to air it out, an easy trick is to wire tie the throttle open so the butterflys in the carbs stay open, let it sit for a day and re start.
or crack it wide open with the petcock off and crank it for a while, the down side to that is the starter will over heat after a few tries and you will eventially run the battery down.

need tires (take offs)? PM me
need a deal on a track day? PM me
disclaimer: I sell used tires (take-offs), these tires have been used at Jennings, Homestead, etc. (road courses for those that dont know) therefor these tires are more used up on the sides than in the middle,

Thanks for the help guys. I guess i just flooded the carbs. Let it sit for a day and it started right up when i got home today. Almost always good advice on TR that keeps me coming back even though I don't live in Florida anymore. It's hard living in an area where i don't know any other riders to help me along learning but I've always wanted a bike and took the opportunity to get one. So now it's a matter of learning the ins and out on my own. Sorry for the ramble on but been up for almost 36 hours.
