i paid 6900 for my 2006 with 5000 miles and countless mods including a near $3000 exhaust and PCIII, alarm and low jack .. not to mention the pazzo lever ($80 each) custom seat, carbon fiber front and rear fenders, steel braided brake lines... etc.

i wouldn't do it.. i'm not 100% but i think the 07+ 1000 is the only one to get, it was a big step up. honda had a dead zone from the 954 years to (i believe)the 07+.(you want the funny looking one that is light weight and hauls ass, not the tank) i don't believe even honda guys really liked them. just got them because it had a honda sticker on it.

as for 8k at the dealer. if its not like 7ish% loan, i wouldn't touch it right now. shit is tight right now, i wouldn't unless you have money for good insurance and know your job is stable. plus the keeping a newer bike outside kinda sucks.

pretty much i'm saying don't do it.

Mine stays covered while in the garage. Covers work great, but may not save chrome from the elements. If you do put it outside with a cover, lock it up VERY well and keep the chrome clean and polished if you don't want it to look like shit.

+1. They're practically giving small storage spaces away right now.

I wouldnt do it. John was right IMO when he was talking about the model CBR youre looking at werent all that great

Plus new bikes outside = not around long when people jack them. And as OrOr said, chrome doesnt last against the elements, it tends to rust.

You could find a much better deal buying private.

i'd say its not a good deal...

for used bikes buy from a private seller so at least you can see what type of person is selling the bike and get an idea how that person rode the bike.

the storage stuff is a good idea.

but just a reminder. the place won't cover anything stolen from them. i had a friend years ago that put a bunch of shit in storage, including some stuff worth quite a bit of money. well if you every look around at how those things are built. just a screw gun and you can take the walls down. in his case someone had removed some screws and when thru a bunch of peoples units and taken anything they wanted.

people got the cops involved but nothing ever came from it. they were shit outta luck and lost some valuable stuff.

prob be hard to steal a bike like that, but still something to remember.
