Help! Need to take the exam by Monday
Wow, I have been out of the loop. I had no idea it was this hard to get your MC license now a days. The cost sure sucks, but I know its a good thing. I had my MC license forever and when I joined the Military it is regulation to have the MSF riding class for you to be able to ride a bike. It is a requirement for all D.O.D. personnel. Hey man just do it and get it over with. If its too expensive or you can't make the time, then you should not be on a bike. You will be surprised on how many little things you will learn that could potentially save your life. I think the cost is bullshit, especially since its mandatory. Look on the bright side, at least you will get an insurance discount. G/L with it either way.
woot, thanks wsideshow. Got there at 6:50, there were a few little 50-250cc scooters out there. It started out with just scooters and sportbikes, I noticed when I left, there was a chopper there. I have no idea how he's going to maneuver the cones when his bike is longer than the cone spacing. hehe.
Anyway, passed, perfect score, got my endorsement for $15 and I was home by 9AM.

Again? Are you voting for Obama by any chance?
Um, you can legally ride around without your endorsement, at least you could before, that's why they call it a "learner's permit". The whole point was that I could ride around my backstreets to get some practice in, before my exam.
Additionally, the permit is restricted to only daytime riding and no passengers and is good for 90 days, renewable. Instead, people now have to pay $200 to take the course, they're going to have to learn how to ride a bike in a single afternoon (rain or shine, Floridians), then they walk out with a fully unrestricted license, regardless of how well they actually did.
Now the skills test isn't all that difficult...but because everyone's getting it done in a shotgun manner, half of the people I met today JUST started riding within the week, and most of them failed because they could not balance in the tight maneuvers, some of the guys failed because they walked the slalom.
I haven't had my permit all that long, but I have put well over 1000 miles on my bike because I practiced for the first two weeks, and I drove it to work every day. I also did drop the bike on a back road when I hit some sand taking a corner. I just scraped my hand, but at least I know what it feels like.
