Default Can someone explain SDMS to me?

I've been doing a ton of homework on a bike purchase (looking to buy late this summer or early fall) and I've noticed that Suzuki is always going on about this SDMS system of theirs. Now the only decent explanation I've found of it pretty much described it as taking some of the power of the bike away in the B and C modes, and it almost sounds like it was intended to let a rider ease into the bike as they learned it (this appeals to me as a novice rider). Other references I've found though make it sound like its more of a track use feature.

Can one of you Suzuki guru's illuminate me on what this actually does?

Nah, Im just looking at a 600 or a 750 for now. It is tempting just to go straight to the 1000 and excercise some extra caution though.

its to help aid throttle control and prevent wheel spin. it has its pro's and cons.

pro's: if setting in mode b or c, it will help reduce wheel spin by changing the ecm kinda like putting a governor on the bike

cons: it doesnt teach you anything. if you learn to rely on the selector, you will never learn what to do if a wheel spin occurs. it teachs you nothing about throttle control.

I really dont see it being useful on the streets. theres too many other factors that could play into a situation. debris(rocks, leaves), uneven road surface, other vehicles, oily surfaces, etc.

need tires (take offs)? PM me
need a deal on a track day? PM me

disclaimer: I sell used tires (take-offs), these tires have been used at Jennings, Homestead, etc. (road courses for those that dont know) therefor these tires are more used up on the sides than in the middle,

get a 600, maybe the 750. there is absolutely no reason to go bigger. learn to ride a 600 or 750 first. when you can ride with the MotoGP guys then you are ready for a 1K.
and dont let people tell ya you will out grow a 600, when you think thats happened, come to Jennings GP, I will show ya that your not ready for a 1K

how big are you? If i recall you were a pretty big guy so a 1000 honestly may not be THAT bad. I really think the 750 though is the best of both worlds and would get one in a heartbeat if i had the funds.

600s are fun, but it you're over 200lbs, it's like riding a 3 leg mule. The 750 is much better in any case.

Maybe a bike is the encouraging push you need. The difference is night & day between 200 & 300lbs on a sport bike. If your's only looking for a cruiser, a busa or zx14 would probably be more comfortable. Contrary to popular belief, riding like an ass is not a requirement of owning one.
