You would think a motorcycle officer would know better than to not wear a helmet, after all, they only respond to traffic offenses, so imagine how many motorcycle crash sites he must have seen in his day. In any case, always sucks when a rider goes down permanently.

By the way, on the news this morning they said it was a city truck that pulled out in front of him, forcing him into the path of the van in the picture above. I don't even see a dent in the van, so maybe a helmet would have saved him? Really sucks that he is leaving behind SIX kids... geez, six kids on a cops salary and now no daddy to bring home a pay check. That family is going to need a lot of help.

RIP.

RIP. I hope they do file charges against the driver. They should do this in every case, not just when a cop is involved.

I bet it will come out that the driver was under the influence.

a little quick to make assumption eh? A) it looks like broad daylight and a work van, B) who are they going to file charges against????

There is a reason they call it an accident.

Should they file charges against every traffic fatality involving cars, as well? Or just when someone turns a biker into chopmeat?

RIP to the rider. Helmet may have saved his life...

they should file charges against the driver of the vehicle that pulled out in front of him . yes.

They should do the same for every god damned driver that getting hit or causes an accident because of that sort of negligence.

It wasnt just an accident. It was an accident born from negligence.

Just so you all know, I have been on the phone with Victor's wife most of the morning. She is trying to get a trust/donation fund set up here at the bank that I work for. If it goes through I will let everyone know what they need to do if there is anyone that wants to donate or whatever. Leaving behind 7 hungry mouths is not going to be easy. RIP rider!

thats really cool. Id like to ask though, being a 20 yr veteran of the police dept doesnt he have life insurance AND retirement plan? Im not saying in any way this isnt a good idea, but he should have 10's of thousands sitting in accounts waiting for his wife/kids

+1

people are so wrapped up in their cell phones and stereos they are driving horribly but they don't worry about it because it's "just an accident". Here's proof that accidents have consequences, and this should be not just for bikes but any incident with a vehicle.
