look at the 3 R.I.P. threads on BT in less than a week, one of them including the guy in my sig. i bet if it was mandatory to wear a helmet, he would be here right now.
yea, but the tattoo on my side of my buddy would still be there. It would reduce deaths, but until you get people to understand riding a bike is like floating in a bubble through a needle factory, people will still die from stupidity, accidents, and carelessness. I sold my bike because all it takes is one stupid person to ruin your whole families' lives...beit someone talking on their cell phone, or the rider.
After i got blindsided by a stupid bitch running a red light, and there were no witnesses, my credit got ruined from medical bills i couldn't pay, my work struggles because my left foot and right shoulders will hurt forever. Buying that last bike was the worst decision of my life.

I just don't agree with government trying to protect people from themselves... Every year people die because they run generators inside their houses, they die because they fall asleep smoking and go up in flames, they die because they fry turkeys inside and burn down their houses, they die because they don't pay attention driving, etc. That doesn't mean the government should make it illegal to own a generator, smoke, deep fry a turkey, drive a car, ride a motorcycle, etc. Stupid people die doing normal things every day. Does that mean we need to outlaw all the things that stupid people find a way to fuck up?

If you don't want to wear a helmet, so be it, but you are making the conscious choice that you may die because of your decision. Making it a law to wear a helmet doesn't make sense because you are not protecting anyone other than the rider who made the decision in the first place. Same thing with seat belts. I understand the comment above about making passengers in your car wear seatbelts because you don't want them flying around hitting you in an accident, but again, that is your responsibility to set that rule in your car, not the governments responsibility to make it a law.

In my opinion, government only exists for three reasons:

1) Defend America from foreign threats.
2) Protect American citizens from criminal intent, so enforce laws like theft, robbery, rape, murder, etc.
3) Provide minimal public works such as roads, police, fire protection, emergency services, etc.

As soon as they pass a law or approve a budget for a project that does not fit into those categories they are over-stepping their authority and infringing on our Freedom.

^ well said bro.

too bad america is basically setup now to run your lives for you since theres so many fuck ups that are too lazy to do ANYTHING for themselves and whenever they come to the realization that THEY fucked up, they'll just blame the government for not telling them what to do!

fucking assholes. :/

i def agree.. dont get me wrong, the last thing i agree with is the govt. telling us what to do on the while we drive but the fact is driving is still a privelage..so they say.. shit's mandatory for my ass cus i drive everywhere.. ...so that gives them the leverage on tellin us what to do.. its all fucked up. i just found out a friend of mine died in a crash when i picked up the paper this morning. fuckin sucks..

If you don't think you'd be safe on a bike...then you probably shouldn't get one.

i think there should be a helmate law... sometimes people think "oh well im just running to the store i dont need a helmate" and then boom there life is over....id rather it go like this, "im just goin to the store but let me throw my helmate on real quick cuz its the LAW" and that helmate might save his life.
