Default 98 cr250 project bike

i bought this bike off a tsb member about a month ago. he told me it just needed a top end and i would be good. i got it cheap so even if i had to do the bottom end i wasnt concerned. i get it home and start to look at it and the bottom end is rusted. wtf? the bike came with no exhaust and the tires were falling apart. this bike has been sitting for a long time.

so then i started the tear down for a complete restoration.

the honda's come with a beautiful aluminum frame. so i just gotta polish it ya know?!?!

i ordered a complete engine kit. hot rod crank, wiseco piston, all bearings and gaskets from motosport.com for a kickass price. also got new grips, and clutch and brake cables to hold me over for right now. the bike didnt come with an exhaust so im getting a full pro circuit system, new plastics, decals and tires.

i just moved into my new house in tarpon with plenty of garage space now to work. the frame has been polished i just need to buff it and spray some clearcoat on and i'll have pics by hopefully tomorro. my top end needs to be sent out to be recoated so thats gonna take awhile! but ive got plenty to do untill then!

damn straight it will, its also another one of those rider things too. I love taking out my 96 CR 125 thats been worked over and laying it to the guys sporting brand new thumpers at the track

A pipe and silencer combo will really wake up a two stroke bike and change its power curve signifacantly. Where will you ride mostly? You DEF want to select a pipe and silencer suited for you type of riding. Some are for all ranges of the power band, some hit like bitch on the top end only, some on the bottom and mid rev range. If you are doing the engine how good are the reeds currently in the bike, they make performance reed valves as well.

I love the old two strokes, damn tree huggers ruin everything. We should all be riding 500cc two stroke sportbikes right now!

im going to get the pro circuit platinum exhaust with the shorty 304 silencer. that is supposively the best combo to go with for my bike and powerwise. im going to be hitting up croom prolly on saturdays and then on sundays i'll go to the track once i learn this bike. i hear sunshine has a good dirt track i'll prolly try that one out first. also heard about a dirt track off 41?

the bike didnt come with the reeds or intake so i still have to pick that stuff up. for right now im just going to pick up a stock reed setup for now. then later get the rad setup. but since everything will be brand new this project is runnin me a solid 2k. my gf is getting her dirtbike in a few weeks so i want to be done as soon as possible lol. i tought her how to ride about a month ago and she is in love so we will both be dirt riding together very soon.

it was so funny because i tried to get her to do a burn out and she almost flipped the bike lol.

on getting ur girl into it! I've never been to sunshine, i hear its a pretty tight course though and pretty technical. Honestly Dade City really does have the best track for beginners on the race track. Nothing out there is not doable and it inspires confidence. There are no doubles or anything like that and the track is all red clay so its nice and tacky all the time. On sundays they have a riding class taught by the local pros that is worth every single penny in my opinion, i think its like $40 or so. Lots of track time and you will go home with a new outlook on whatever it is they were teaching you, everything from practicing starts, to riding without the clutch and using the engine as your brake to the fullest extent, to picking lines on the track to jumping jumps, etc etc etc. Lakeland and Mulberry have some really nice tracks as well if they are within your distance.
