btw, i did that when i was 19.

now im 20, my bike is paid off in full, have a seperate HSBC account open with my dirtbike on it that i got approved on first try as well, i have a bank of america and a capital one card i use for groceries and gas.

yesterday i went and bought a brand new dodge ram truck and i got approved 1st try thru suntrust financial...

basically, cosigners help alot with getting your credit jump started so you can go on to bigger and better faster.

goodluck man! dont ever pay anything late!

ok well whos name is the lien under? like i said a cosigner spreads out the amount of debt. its just like if you have a 800 credit score but 80k in debt and make 40k a year. it wont go thru. the cosigner thing will only work if you put up collateral (i.e. COD, alamoney etc). i tried man. i was 21, moved back to fl and tried to get a bike with 0 credit and my mom as a cosignee. she has a 790 credit score and plenty of income with no debt. didnt go thru bc i had no credit. i got a credit card and used it for my typical spending and paid it off every 2 weeks. made my score shoot to a 760 in a year and a year later on the dot i bought my bike. what i was saying is dont use it and pay it off and get rid of it, or not use it and make the minimum payments that are required for a non secured credit card.

Save up... build your credit... by the time you can get one... the stuff now will be cheaper & the newer bikes will be better.

He had perfect credit and i was all set for an 08 r6 paying 170 a month. I was pretty damn happy because i knew i could afford it no problem and its somnething ive always wanted. well we went that saturday to finalize everything and my co signer changed his mind thinking he doesnt want that much on his credit even tho he knows i wont miss a payment. oh well no bike for me. i went down to my bank and got a credit card now im just building some credit so i dont have to rely on anyone else...
buy everything you get anywhere on your card and pay it off in full every month, or atleast never never skip or miss a payment. in a year you will be golden, and i would say after 9 mo or so go have them run your shit like every couple months.

actually dont have them run your credit stuff that often anytime a place runs your credit its a mark on your score and if its run too often it can actually hurt your score becuase they think your trying to use up your credit like crazy even if u never actually purchase anything

Let me start off by explaining that I'm a credit expert and part of my job is teaching loan officers how credit really works. Everyone thinks they know, but 95% are clueless.

Having no credit score is not a bad thing, but you need to establish yourself before you will qualify for a luxury item (motorcycle).

Step 1: Get 1 or 2 department store credit cards. Target and sears are good places to start (go to target first). Resist the urge to apply everywhere... it's credit suicide.

Step 2: Use the cards for exactly 7 months. Charge a reasonable amount on them (within your budget) and only pay it off completely every other month. e.g.: Charge $100 in Jan, pay $25 in Feb, pay balance in Mar.

Step 3: You'll have about a 700 score, so you can buy 1 large item of your choice (Car or bike). If you want both, you'll need to buy 1, wait 7 months, then buy the other.

All of this is assuming that you have a stable job with reasonable free income and that you can prove it. Also, you'll need to make sure your credit card balances remain low (< 30% of limit) for a month or so before you apply for a bike loan.
