Default Ducati's; Worth it?

As some of you may know i had to get rid of my Kawi a little while back. Well now there may be a bit if fortune to come into my posession and to be honest ive been looking at a new Ducati 848 real hard. The question is though; are they really worth the money? Since you cant just test ride them and i dont know anyone with one i thought id get your opinions on them? Are they really as finnicky as people say as far as valve adjustments and tune ups? Let me know what you guys think, ur opinion and experiences are gonna be a big help.

the 999 is real high maitenance. the 1098 isn't and the 848 supposedly isn't either.

i dont like the look, but suposedly, the handling is much better than a typical bike from the Big 4. Not to mention, did you see how well Duc did in MotoGP?

I almost bought a 1098 instead of the gixxer. At the time, everyone including the dealer said maintenance was more frequent and more expensive. With that being said, it didn't seem like a practical street bike.... but damn they're sexy.

I'd say they're worth it if you've ridden for awhile. Equip a jap bike with top notch wheels/brakes/suspension and the price is very similar, if you look at the cost of say an R1 with marchesini rims, brembo brakes, and ohlins suspension VS a 1098S.

my vote is for a 1098s my GM has one and he said their is nothing else out their that compares. He's a ex racer and has a aprillia along with many other bikes. So I believe him but that's just my .02

if you consider the brembo master, marchesinis, SB lines, gp style guages, amount of weight reducing mats, wrapped with trick suspension and a world class chassis well then no. the price isnt that bad at all.

yes maitenence is more $ and more often than a jap bike
