if your rich and can afford the $$$e for inital price and maintenance go for it but honestly its going to waste on the streets.. and god forbid u drop it or it gets a scratch!!! ..its like buying a viper and never going over 55mph.. it just doesn't make cents.. if ur looking for a notch up on other riders in racing, it could help a little but there will always be a better rider out there whoopin ur ass on some old beat up jap bike.. its mostly the man that makes the diff, not necessarily the machine..

I for one am in love with the way the older 996 and 916 look. To me its the sexiest modern sport bike ever built. As far as owning a new one? I talked to a guy named John that works up at Euro Cycle Triumph/Ducati he said the maintainance interval for new Ducs is a lot less seldom than it used to be. And, that they are far more affordable then you'd think these days.
But I'd imagine owning a Ducati would be like owning a Ferrari. Its not something you drive everyday or even want to, its for special occassions and and if you can afford one, I'd say go for it.

I would say go for it, as fastforward said it's like owning a ferrari, laborghini, etc. They are works of art in a 4 or 2-wheeled form. If you appreciate what it is and the craftsmanship that went into making one, you'll get your money's worth.
