It has just over 5K miles. 90% of that is hwy. It popped out of 2nd under hard acceleration a few times over the last 2-3 months. I've had it about 4.5 months. It was new with 0 miles. It popped out last night and it took two tries to get it to stay in after that. This morning when down shifting to 2nd coming into a corner, as the tranny unloaded it popped out into neutral. Had it happen again coming up to a light. Searched around and found this was common with 00-01's But didn't see anything else.

 

Is under warranty? Take it back and have them diagonois!

 

Yeah, it is. Just thought i would see if it's common so i have some supporting evidence.

 

Actually, after your post, I went over to Gixxer.com and did a search. Looks like a small issue amoung a few owners out there. Perhaps it will be a "common" problem of some sort.

Second gear is a known problem for many sportbikes, especially on abused bikes. It's known on forums for Kawis, but mainly cuz the abuse. It's just the most drastic gear change, compared to the others. Good luck and let us know what happens...

 

stupid question but are you fully engaging 2nd? i find my bike if i dont hit it hard enough it pops out....thats what u get for buyin a gixxer....

 

i got an 07 and i've never had a problem with second gear...i don't beat the livin shit outta my tranny either tho
