Default Sportbike Posture

So, I'm taking the MSF class (yeah, I've been riding without my endorsement. DIAF.) this weekend and they have a ninja 250 there. I figure, since I've never had any time on a sportbike and plenty on a cruiser I might as well try it out - so after we go on a break I hop on the thing..

And Jesus fucking Christ was it uncomfortable. I felt like I was ready to take it up the asshole. The shifter and footbrake felt all wrong unles I was laying down, and then I wanted to put my hand behind me so nobody could sneak something in my back door. Not to mention I couldn't actually LAY down on the tank, I had to hold myself up via the handlebars. The shifter felt nonexistant. Really, I think at high speeds the wind might very well be able to downshift that thing. And the throttle reminded me of an electric motorcycle for some reason - it had a dead zone and then even when the bike started to rev I couldn't feel shit. It was like there was no motor in it. Turns were really managable since the forks were damn near straight down, but of course at the expense of straight line stability.

How do you guys ride these things? I didn't think a bike could be any more uncomfortable. No wonder you ride these fucking things on their back wheels so much, they fucking suck when they're on both wheels! Maybe I'm spoiled coming from cruisers with a full saddle and a laid back riding position, but I don't see how you could 'ride' or 'cruise' on these crotch rockets.

Although I gotta say, sitting at 6,000 RPMs and just barely needing to shift in normal traffic is kinda cool.

unless you ride a busa, you don't ride for comfort. you get used to it all, and you build muscles where you didn't even think you had any. suck it up and stop being such a puss.

Busa's are more comfortable, but they still cant touch a cruiser.

Thats the kind of logic that gets uppity politicans with soccer moms supporting them to outlaw your machines; they already don't like you because you're young, an easy target, and a general danger to yourself and those around you on a bike...go ahead and brand your vehicle for track and racing only and see how long it still has a DMV tag on it for.

Jesus...and then you wonder why cops fuck with you guys. Its like beating a retarded kid with a spiked mace.

First off I wouldn't consider a ninja 250 a sportbike. Second sportbikes are not designed to be comfortable. they are designed to put the rider in the most effective position for riding at high speeds. Also complaing about a dead spot in the engine of a 250 ninja is a bit silly. Try riding a 1000 cc bike and see if you have any complaints about the engine.
